With downsized engines now the trend of the automotive industry, 2022 marks the end of an era for BMW. The carmaker will cease production of V12 engines after a 35-year-long journey that started with the 7 Series 750iL from 1987, running a 295PS 5-litre M70 V12. To honor this occasion, the Bavarian brand has fittingly decided to have the 7 Series sedan as the final V12-powered production car with the  Final V12 Edition based on the M760i.

So what makes this M760i special from the other 7 Series sedans? For starters, it’ll have a unique V12 rear badge, special 20-inch alloy wheels that can be specced in either grey or black, as well as a plaque featuring “THE FINAL V12” lettering on the door sills and the engine cover. It can also be specced with M Sport brakes with black or blue calipers.

It’ll be loaded with all the bells and whistles such as a panoramic roof, adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight tech, remote control parking, and a Bowers and Wilkins sound system.

Under the hood, the M760i’s engine is a 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 that makes 601PS, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drivetrain. This is enough to push the sedan from 0-96kmph in just 3.6 seconds.

Considering the M760i Final V12 Edition is BMW’s last V12 model, it's no surprise that only 12 units will be produced. To make things more exclusive, you can’t just walk into a BMW dealership and get it. BMW themselves will send invitations only to customers that are long-time 7 Series V12 customers to buy this special edition 7 Series.

The final 12 BMW V12 models will be produced in June 2022, with deliveries expected to commence in July according to BMW. While we do have the M760Li priced at Rs 2.46 crore (ex-showroom) in Ind, the M760i Final V12 Edition will only be sold in the United States.
