Powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder N/A petrol engine with an output of 82PS and 112Nm
Pre-launch bookings are underway
The new-gen Maruti Dzire is here! Well, almost, as the carmaker has just taken the wraps of the sub-4m sedan. A launch is due on November 11, so save for the prices, we know everything there is to know about the new Dzire. Pre launch bookings are already underway and there are a total of four variants (Lxi, Vxi, Zxi, and Zxi+) to choose from. So if you were planning to book it, here are the top 5 things to know:
For the first time in history, the Maruti Dzire doesn't look like a stretched out version of the Swift hatchback. This new-generational avatar comes with design cues that are unique to the Dzire itself.
The front gets LED headlights and a revised grille and bumper setup. It sits on new alloy wheels in profile, where you’ll also spot a camera on its ORVM (outside rear view mirror). That’s part of its new feature, which we’ll talk about later in the story.
The rear too gets major revisions in the form of square-ish tail lights which sport a Y-shaped LED motif within it. Just like before, the tail lights are connected via a chrome strip and there’s also a shark fin antenna on its roof.

In terms of exterior colour options, there are 7 monotone shades to choose from: Gallant Red, Alluring Blue, Nutmeg Brown, Bluish Black, Arctic White, Magma Grey, and Splendid Silver.
While the exterior of the new-gen Dzire is brand new, the interior has been carried over from the latest-gen Swift. But, it’s not all the same as Maruti has given it a new dual tone black and beige theme, which has always been a differentiator for the Dzire. It even gets the same wood-like finish in the middle trim of the dashboard.
With the new cabin design comes a fresh set of features for the Dzire. The list now includes a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto AC, electric ORVMs, keyless entry, cruise control, rear AC vents, sunroof and a 360-degree camera. The last two features are additions over the kit that you get with the Swift.
In terms of features, the top variant comes packing 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX mounts.
The interior isn’t the only thing the new Dzire has borrowed from the Swift, as it also gets the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Z-Series petrol engine, which can be paired with a five-speed manual or AMT transmission. It has an output of 82PS and 112Nm, which is the same as the new Swift.
There’s also a CNG kit available with the new Dzire right from its launch, wherein the output drops to 70PS and 102Nm. The CNG powertrain is available with a manual transmission only.
Maruti claims an efficiency figure of 24.79kmpl with the manual and 25.71kmpl with the AMT transmission. The CNG powertrain returns 33.73km/kg.
While the price list will be out on November 11, we reckon Maruti is likely to ask a premium over the current prices, which start from Rs 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom). With this update, it’ll put up a tougher fight against the upcoming new Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura.
