BMW Motorrad has launched the CE 02 electric scooter in India and priced it for Rs 4,49,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter is available in two colours: Cosmic Black and Cosmic Black 2 (as a part of the optional highline package), with the Cosmic Black 2 getting blue and white highlights along with golden forks which really elevate the aesthetic appeal of the scooter.
The CE 02 is the outcome of BMW Motorrad’s collaboration with TVS to produce and share two wheeler platforms. The TVS’ version which has the same underpinnings as the CE 02 is the TVS X electric scooter. As for the CE 02, it gets a 3.92kWh battery which makes 15PS at 5,500rpm and 55Nm at 1000rpm. BMW claims that the CE 02 will deliver a range of 108km and a top-speed of 95kmph. The electric scooter will do the 0-50kmph sprint a claimed 3 seconds.
The bike gets disc brakes at both ends with the front disc being 239mm and the rear is a 220mm disc. The scooter gets a USD fork and a monoshock at the rear.
Features include a 3.5-inch TFT screen with two riding modes: Flow and Surf, adjustable levers, keyless ignition, reverse mode and an anti-theft alarm to aid security. The scooter also gets rider aids such as stability control and dual-channel ABS. The CE 02 gets LED lights all around with a USB-C charging port to add convenience.
Customers can also choose the optional highline package which gets the Cosmic Black 2 colour, better switchgear to control the TFT display, an integrated smartphone holder, a new riding mode named Flash, a coloured seat, a quick external 1.5kW charger, and heated grips.
The BMW CE 02 has no natural rivals in the Indian market, the closest thing you can get in the electric segment is the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 Recon which is priced at Rs 3,99,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). For reference, the F77 Mach 2 Recon gets a 10.3kWh battery pack which makes 40PS and 100Nm delivering a claimed range of 323km and a top-speed of 155kmph.
