(Update: The all-new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been launched. Check the details in our launch story here.)
Short on the heels of launching a custom Shotgun 650 at Motoverse 2023, Royal Enfield has now unveiled the production-spec Shotgun 650.
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 gets a flat handlebar with bar-end mirrors and the footpegs are mid-set. It gets twin peashooter exhausts that are blacked out and slightly upswept. In a typical bobber fashion, the bike also gets a single seat and a chopped rear fender. The bobber is based on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and shares a lot of parts with the cruiser like the 650cc parallel-twin cylinder engine but the Royal Enfield logo on the Shotgun 650’s crankcase is different.
The Shotgun 650 gets a different cowl for the LED headlight that covers the instrument console very neatly and is flanked on each side by round turn indicators. The instrument console with the tripper navigator is the same as the one seen on the Super Meteor 650. The bobber also gets Wingman, a feature on the Royal Enfield app that gives you information like live tracking, last parked location, trip summary and more. The motorcycle gets four colour options: Stencil White, Plasma Blue, Green Drill and Sheetmetal Grey. Royal Enfield also offers a pillion seat which can be removed with the help of the bike’s key.
The Shotgun 650 is powered by the same 648cc, air-oil cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 47PS and 52.3Nm and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The claimed mileage of the Shotgun 650 is 22kmpl. Interestingly, it gets a 13.8-litre fuel tank, which is 1.9 litres smaller than the Super Meteor.

The Shotgun comes equipped with a specially tuned 43mm big piston Showa fork with 120mm wheel travel and twin rear shock absorbers with 5-step preload adjustability and 90mm wheel travel suspension setup. The braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm front disc brake and a 300mm rear disc brake, with dual-channel ABS. It gets an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel wrapped with 100-section front and 150-section rear tubeless Ceat Zoom Cruz tyres. The alloy wheel design is different than that of the Super Meteor 650.
The bobber gets a kerb weight of 240kg (only 1kg lighter than the Super Meteor), seat height of 795mm (massive 55mm taller than the Super Meteor’s seat), ground clearance of 140mm (5mm more than the Super Meteor). The bobber gets 31 genuine accessories from Royal Enfield like a sculpted solo seat, contrast-cut billet rims and more. For the Shotgun 650, Royal Enfield is partnering with ICON Motorsports to develop a specialised riding gear and apparel range.
The Shotgun 650 is expected to be launched in January 2024 with a price tag of Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The bobber will be launched globally in early 2024. It won’t have a direct rival with the closest smaller-engined alternatives being the Jawa Perak and the Jawa 42 Bobber.
