Classic Legends is bringing back the iconic moniker back to India on the Independence Day, but here’s a quick lowdown of the bike for the uninitiated

Coming soon

Quick Highlights:

  • BSA Gold Star 650 will be launched on August 15, 2024

  • It will be the most expensive single-cylinder bike south of Rs 10 lakh

  • It will rival the Royal Interceptor 650

Classic Legends is all set to reintroduce the BSA brand to India on August 15. The British motorcycle brand will return with the Gold Star 650, which will have the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in its crosshairs. Until then, here’s a quick download about the bike to get you up to speed:

BSA Gold Star 650 Engine

BSA Gold Star 650 is powered by a 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with twin spark plugs, that makes 45.6PS and 55Nm. It’s mated to a five-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

Will launch on August 15

The engine casing has been designed to mimic the look of an air-cooled engine, to help with the bike’s retro appeal. The engine will offer a unique riding experience, especially more so since its refinement levels will be different from that of the twin-cylinder Interceptor 650.

BSA Bold Star 650 Suspension, Brakes, & Other Equipment

Despite its retro avatar, the Gold Star gets some modern equipment. Its suspension duties are handled by a 41mm telescopic fork and 5-step preload adjustable twin shocks.

Gets some premium equipment

For braking, there’s a 320mm front disc and a 255mm rear disc, both with Brembo calipers. The Gold Star gets an 18-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear, both spoked, however these are wrapped with Pirelli Sportscomp tyres internationally. In India, these might get something more affordable. With all the equipment, the Gold Star has a kerb weight of 213kg.

BSA Gold Star 650 Features

The Gold Star has a pretty humble feature set that includes a round halogen headlight, a twin-pod instrument cluster, with digital insets, a handlebar-mounted USB port, and an engine immobiliser.

BSA Gold Star 650 Price

As we evaluated earlier, the Gold Star 650 will be priced slightly higher than the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

Will be priced at Rs 3.50 lakh

We expect its pricing to be Rs 20,000 more than the top variant of the Interceptor 650. That would bring it to somewhere around Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Classic Legends will give BSA a premium positioning as compared to Jawa-Yezdi, and will reflect in its bikes’ prices as well.
