BSA B65 Scrambler Unveiled

  • BSA has unveiled the upcoming 650 Scrambler in the UK
  • Features the same engine as the BSA Gold Star
  • Could be launched in India by 2025

BSA has unveiled their upcoming 650 Scrambler in the UK, at the Birmingham Motorcycle Live Show. This upcoming bike is based on the same platform as the BSA Gold Star 650, featuring the same engine and many cycle parts. The bike has also been teased on their social media as well.

The BSA 650 Scambler is likely to be called the ‘BSA B65 Scrambler’, as indicated by the markings on the race plate mounted on the side. The bike features a lot of design and styling changes, which make it stand out quite a bit when compared to the BSA Gold Star 650.

The Gold Star 650 gave a retro vibe with its design and styling, whereas the B65 Scrambler feels more modern and rugged. The bike features a smaller round headlight, with a headlight grille. BSA Motorcycles has also added in a beak-like fender at the front, giving it that offroader look and feel and also given it a braced handlebar.

The scrambler’s fuel tank is coloured with BSA graphics, unlike the chrome-finished tank on the Gold Star. The bike is likely to be offered in 2 colour schemes, a dual-tone yellow and dark grey one, with red colour liveries, and a white colour scheme with grey and red graphics.

Lastly, as mentioned before, the bike also features a race plate mounted on the sidepanel, with a ‘65’ marking. The rear section has also undergone a slight change, with a different tail section and taillight setup, which looks a lot more compact.

The bike has a bashplate, to protect the engine while riding offroad. Overall, the design and styling makes the bike look really good and it manages to pull off an authentic scrambler look.

In terms of features, the B65 Scrambler could be different from the Gold Star 650. Judging by the images, it is clear that the bike gets an off-set single-pod instrument console which is likely to be a digital unit. The B65 Scrambler could also offer switchable ABS at the rear, to allow for controlled slides offroad.

When it comes to performance, the BSA B65 Scrambler will feature the same 652cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 45.6PS and 55Nm. Although the engine is quite torque-y, we expect BSA to give the Scrambler a larger rear sprocket to increase the bottom-end grunt for better offroad performance.

Although the bike is built on the same platform as the BSA Gold Star 650 and shares a lot of underpinnings in common, we expect a few changes such as the addition of longer travel at both ends to improve the bike’s ground clearance. So far, judging by the images, it is clear the bike gets a telescopic fork and a twin-shock absorber setup. The bike also gets a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel setup with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.

The BSA B65 Scrambler would go up against the recently launched Royal Enfield Bear 650 which is currently the only scrambler offering available in the 650cc segment. The bike is expected to be launched in the UK by 2025, and could come to India around the same time. It could be priced around  the  Rs 3.4 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
