With the release of the Hammerhead sportbike last year, Buell Motorcycle made a comeback after being defunct for years. The American bike maker has now unveiled the SuperTouring 1190 at the Daytona Bike Week. Based on its faired sibling, the Buell SuperTouring 1190 is claimed to be the fastest production sports tourer motorcycle. However, the bike is still a prototype and will be going into production only in September 2022. As expected it will cost a pretty penny and has been priced at USD 21,995 (around Rs 16.65 lakh, before taxes).
On the design front, the SuperTouring 1190 is basically the Buell 1190SX streetfighter, but with more functional equipment and slight styling differences. The front of the bike features a circular dual LED headlight setup, which looks pretty retro and cool, along with a long visor. The ADV also features a new single seat set up, storage cases on the side and a new exhaust. However, the bike showcased was still a prototype and had some rather rough edges to its boxy design.
Powering the SuperTouring 1190 is the same 1190cc V-twin engine churning out 185PS and 137Nm as the Hammerhead. It is mated to a six-speed transmission.
Adding on to the Buell quirks is the perimeter-mounted front disc brakes that span a massive 386mm across, combined with an inside-out 8-piston caliper. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tyres.
Despite its adventure-based design, the SuperTouring cannot be classified as an adventure motorcycle and will directly rival the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX and the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.
Apart from the SuperTouring, Buell also unveiled the Baja DR, claimed to be the fastest production dirt bike. The Baja DR, too, is powered by the same engine, but detuned to produce 174PS.
It is exciting to see the crazy products that Buell Motorcycles has to offer. What do you think about the new Buell Bikes? Let us know in the comments.
