BYD YangWang U8 Showcased At The Auto Expo 2025! Here is a Detailed Look At The Premium SUV!

BYD under its premium sub-brand, YangWang, has unveiled the U8 luxury SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is a large full-size SUV which provides utmost luxury, and offers a claimed range which is double than that of most electric SUVs. The U8 gets a plug-in hybrid powertrain and is equipped with top-notch hardware capable of taking it to uncharted territories! 

Design 

The U8 luxury SUV has a butch and mucsular look with that gangster appeal to it which makes it look bold. You get plenty of rugged and bold elements that add to macho appearance of the SUV. There are chunky elements everywere, along with modern design elements that give it a nice overall look. You get a blacked-out grille, alloy wheels, pillars and roof. The spare wheel mounted on the tailgate is large and the tail lamps have plenty of elements inside. 

Interior And Features 

The cabin of the U8 screams luxury and gets soft touch leather materials across the dashboard. In the centre, you get a large vertically oriented infotainment screen placed above the few physical buttons.  Additionaly, there is also a large driver's display and entertainment screens for the co-driver and rear passengers as well. There are 22 speakers which ensure a proper surround sound output. 

Powertrain 

The U8 comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, featuring a large battery pack and a petrol engine which together produce a combined range of 1000 km! It comes with four independent motors that together produce a massive power output of up to 1200 PS. With so much power on tap, it is good enouugh to reach the 100 kmph mark from nought in just 3.6 seconds (top-spec)! It is capable of floating in water for 30 minutes and is capable of doing a tank turn on all terrains. 

While there is no certrainty about its launch in India, it might actually make for an interesting luxury SUV that can take you and your family to different corners of the country (except for narrow lanes) without any hesitation! In India, it could be an electric alternative to the likes of the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography.
