As we inch closer to the end of 2020, Chinese motorcycle maker CFMoto has launched an electric sub-brand: Zeeho. This new range of electric scooters has been designed in collaboration with Kiska, the same design house responsible for a majority of KTMs as well as CFMoto motorcycles.
The Cyber Concept is the first of many electric scooters from Zeeho. This concept debuts the brand’s new Cobra powertrain which consists of a water-cooled, mid-mounted IP6-certified 10kW battery. The motor makes about 213Nm of torque (at the rear wheel of course) and reaches speeds of 50kmph in a claimed time of 2.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 110kmph.
The vehicle is powered by a Farasis Energy manufactured, pouch-style 4kWh lithium-ion battery. CFMoto claims that in one full charge, the scooter can clock about 130 kilometres. The battery can be charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes with the fast-charging system.
CFMoto’s battery management system lasts 2,500 cycles or eight years with a maximum riding distance of 3,00,000 kilometres. It has an operating temperature range of -22 to 55 degree Celsius, ensuring it will be viable in various climatic conditions around the world.
The Cyber Concept comes equipped with Pirelli tires. Braking is via 215mm Brembo disc brakes with ABS as standard. Moreover, the suspension is adjustable.
The safety net includes Bosch-powered stability control with three riding modes: Eco, Street and Sport. The Cyber Concept houses six cameras for 360-degree obstacle warning. All of this can be controlled by Zeeho’s Just-Ride ride-by-wire system. Although we’re not sure why Zeeho has made such a big deal of this as all electric powertrains run a ‘ride-by-wire’ system.
The dashboard is user-customisable and can be connected to the Zeeho app to access a host of features. You get the likes of keyless start, voice commands, remote diagnostics, social networking, and vehicle tracking.
CFMoto entered the Indian market back in November 2019 with its first dealership in Thane, Mumbai. The first offerings were limited to four models: 300NK, 650NK, 650MT, 650GT. While CFMoto was planning to set up 50 dealerships across the country by 2021, the company is still to really get off the ground, especially after the shift to BS6 regulations.
It will be a while before the Zeeho Cyber Concept makes it to production. Its likelihood of coming to our shores will depend on whether CFMoto follows up on its commitment to the Indian market.
