Christmas is here and if you are not sure about what to give the ardent motorcyclist in your life, we have got your back. And contrary to what most believe, us bikers’ Christmas list has got a lot more than swanky new motorcycles.
For the Rider:
Royal Enfield Custom Helmet And T-shirt
Bikers just can’t get enough of good helmets, and having a customised one is a dream for many. RE’s Make-it-Yours customisation programme allows you to choose between an open face, full face or the urban Trooper helmet, fiddle around with the livery, interior and shell colours and even add text to the lid. All of that at a surprisingly affordable price. You can also throw-in a custom t-shirt from RE for your buddy to flaunt. Here’s experience of configuring the Royal Enfield Make-it-Yours helmet.
Riding Gears
If you know a motorcyclist, you are definitely aware of their obsession with riding gear. The new Rynox Tornado Pro 3 gloves make for a good pair of short-cuff pairs at an affordable price tag of Rs 3,250.
Royal Enfield has an array of jackets starting from the entry-level Streetwind V2 priced at Rs 4950 to the top-of-the-line Nirvik jacket with a price tag of Rs 14,950. Alternatively, you can gift the RE X Knox collection comprising a jacket, gloves and knee guards with a combined price of Rs 17,140.
One of the most unique collections is offered by Viaterra with its Munro riding jacket and pants. These are custom-made, based on the individual’s measurements for perfect tailor fit riding gear. The pant is priced at Rs 10,999 while the jacket will set you back by Rs 11,099.
Parani M10 Bluetooth
Almost every motorcyclist fancies a Sena or a similar Bluetooth communication device. Parani’s M10 is priced at Rs 5,999, making it an excellent value-for-money proposition. It features a LCD display, allows you to attend calls, listen to music along with navigation and voice assist. We have extensively used the Parani M10 Bluetooth device, and our review will give you an insight if this is the right gift for your biker bud.
For the Bike:
TVS Protorq tyres
Good tyres are hard to come by, especially with the current restrictions on imported tyres. Thankfully, Indian players have stepped up their game, and we can vouch for the TVS Protorq tyres having tested them on our long-term KTM 390 Duke. For about Rs 11,000 a pair, these are too good a deal to pass. So, if you know someone in desperate need of new tyres, you have the perfect pair for them.
Mi Portable Air Compressor
Along with having good tyres, maintaining the right air pressure in them is equally necessary. And for tourers, this should be an essential part of the kit. Be it punctures, or simply the changing riding conditions that demand different pressures, you can simply pull out this bad boy from your bag, fill up (or deflate) and be on your way. At Rs 2,499 this isn't heavy on the pocket too. Read our review to know the pros and cons of the Mi Portable Air Compressor.
Luggage Options
Heavy tourer or not, there’s always a trip where one wishes to have a purpose-built luggage option rather than using bungee cords and jugaad to mount luggage. Thankfully, there are some great options in the market, like the Rynox Expedition saddlebags, suitable for bikes like the Bajaj Dominar 400, Honda H’Ness CB350 or the Royal Enfield Himalayan. But if the bike has a high-mounted exhaust, you can opt for the Viaterra Claw tail bag that has more capacity than the Ryno’x saddlebag. However, with a tail bag, there’s no room for a pillion.
Maddog Auxiliary Lights
If you are looking for a gift for that adventure-seeking biker in your life, Maddog has some great options for auxiliary lights. Ranging from Rs 3750 all the way to Rs 9749, there are four options depending on your requirement. To top that off, Maddog offers some neat filters for various road conditions.
Stanley 110-piece Tool Kit
Every motorcyclist fancies their own garage, and a massive toolbox. Stanley’s 110-piece tool kit has everything, right from allen keys and different screw heads to pliers. To sum it up, this toolkit is every geasemonkey’s wet dream. The price? At Rs 8,466, the box practically offers everything one would need to take the whole bike apart and rebuild.
Motorcycle TLC Kit
If you have a motorcyclist in your life, you probably know how they spend hours every Sunday pampering their steed. So, some quality products to spruce up their bike for Christmas is not a bad gifting idea after all, right? We’d recommend using Turtle India’s products which we have tested. Add a chain and engine degreaser along with a chain lube from Putoline, and you’ve earned your biker friend’s gratitude.
Petrol Card
With the soaring fuel prices, this is probably the best gift for many bikers right now. There are many merchants and banks offering fuel cards with attractive offers. So, now every time they are out for their Sunday rides, they know who to thank.
