Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO (facelifted XUV300) at an introductory price of Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The subcompact SUV is available in nine broad trim levels: MX1, MX2, MX2 Pro, MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, AX5 L, AX7, and AX7 L. Bookings for the XUV 3XO will commence on May 15, 2024 and deliveries will begin from May 26. In this article, we take a closer look at everything offered in the AX5L variant.
The front of the AX5 variant of the Mahindra XUV 3XO looks identical to that of the top-spec variant. The fascia is identical in all the variants but the AX5L gets a different headlight setup. C-shaped LED DRLs have been paired with an LED projector unit instead of halogen projectors. The only miss here are the LED fog lamps which are limited to the top-spec AX7 and AX7L variants.
From the side, the AX5L retains the overall silhouette and gets roof rails, body-coloured door handles and blacked-out ORVMs along with gloss-black A and C pillars. A thick body cladding running across the vehicle, gives it a muscular stance.
Instead of 17-inch alloy wheels (limited to the top-spec variant), the AX5L variant gets 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. Also notice that the XUV 3XO gets all-wheel disc brakes across the lineup.
From the back, the AX5L variant is identical to the top-spec variants with the inclusion of rear wiper with washer setup, defogger, and roof-mounted spoiler along with an antenna. The connected LED tail lights remain unchanged and the bumpers get silver-finished elements, reflectors, and a diffuser.

The AX5L variant's dashboard layout closely resembles that of the top-spec models, featuring a combination of white and black colors to enhance the sense of space. Gloss-black elements with textured effects add a touch of luxury and sophistication. The steering wheel and gear knob are upholstered in leatherette, and the variant includes push-button start/stop functionality.
In terms of technology, the AX5L trim level offers a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as Adrenox connected car tech. Dual-zone air conditioning is a talking point for this segment, but this variant misses out on a panoramic sunroof and gets a single-pane sunroof instead. Additional features over the AX5 trim include a 360 degree surround view camera with blind spot monitor, auto dimming IRVM, Electronic parking brake with auto hold and a cooled glovebox.
Furthermore, the AX5L variant stands out with its 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, featuring extras like a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and automatic rain-sensing wipers. It offers a range of safety features, including ABS, EBD, hill-start and hill-hold assist, a rear parking camera with sensors, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all occupants, ISOFIX child seat mounts, 6 airbags, and all-wheel disc brakes. The safety suite also shows an increment as the AX5L variant comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS features.
The AX5L variant of the XUV 3XO is available with just the 1.2-litre TGDI turbo petrol engine producing 130 PS and 300 Nm. It can be opted in either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There is no diesel option available for this specific variant.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5L is available from Rs 11.99 lakh to Rs 13.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It competes with popular models such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite, along with the upcoming Skoda Sub-4m SUV.
