Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO at an introductory price of Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in nine broad trim levels: MX1, MX2, MX2 Pro, MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, AX5 L, AX7, and AX7 L. Bookings for the XUV 3XO will commence on May 15, 2024 and deliveries will begin from May 26, 2024. In this article, we take a closer look at everything offered in the mid-spec AX5 variant.
The front of the AX5 variant of the Mahindra XUV 3XO looks identical to the top-spec variant. It gets the same gloss black grille with six chrome slats, silver skid plate below the bumper, and C-shaped LED DRLs with LED projector headlights. The only miss here are the LED fog lamps which are limited to the top-spec AX7 and AX7L variants.
Upon viewing it from the side, the AX5 variants get roof rails, body-coloured door handles and blacked-out ORVMs along with gloss-black A and C pillars. A thick body cladding running across the vehicle, gives it a muscular stance.
Instead of 17-inch alloy wheels (limited to the top-spec variant), the AX5 variant gets 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels which resemble those on the outgoing XUV300. Also notice that all wheels get disc brakes across the lineup.
From the back, the AX5 variant is identical to the top-spec variants with the inclusion of rear defogger, wiper with washer setup, and roof-mounted spoiler. The connected LED tail lights remain unchanged and the bumpers also get silver-finished elements, reflectors, and a diffuser. It is from this variant onwards that you get a rear-parking camera.

The dashboard layout of the AX5 variant remains similar to the top-spec variants as it is finished in white and black colour hues to enhance the sense of roominess in the cabin. Generous use of gloss-black elements with gnarled effects across the dashboard makes it look rich and premium. The steering wheel and gear knob is draped in leatherette and this variant also features push button start/stop functionality.
The AX5 trim-level gets features such as the 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Adrenox connected Car tech. This variant is also the entry point to get the dual-zone automatic climate control unit.
The AX5 variant not only gets the larger infotainment screen, but is also equipped with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with niceties such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and automatic rain sensing wipers.
It gets a single-pane sunroof (found in the outgoing XUV300) instead of the segment-first panoramic sunroof, which is anyway limited to the top-spec variants. Safety features include ABS, EBD, hill-start and hill-hold assist, rear parking camera with sensors, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all occupants, ISOFIX child seat mounts, 6-airbags and all-wheel disc brakes.
The seats get a fabric upholstery and the rear occupants get a central armrest with cupholders and rear AC vents, along with USB C-type charging port and a 12V socket, improving the overall comfort and convenience quotient.
