Ducati has taken its manic Diavel to the next level with the introduction of the new Diavel V4 at the ongoing Ducati World Premiere 2023. Here’s the lowdown on the Italian power cruiser:
The Ducati Diavel V4 now flaunts the 1158cc Granturismo engine from the Multistrada V4. This powerhouse now belts out 168PS and 125.52Nm, which is 5Nm more than its ADV sibling, but almost 4Nm less than the Diavel 1260.
Interestingly, the bigger engine could be relatively easier on the pockets, since the service intervals now stand at 60,000km and with the extended deactivation system, the rear cylinders are shut off when idling and also while riding at low engine speeds.
Complementing this performance is the Diavel V4’s reworked chassis. Tipping the scales at 223kg, it is a whopping 13kg lighter than before, with 5kg saved from the new engine, and 8kg from other components.
Ducati has used a 50mm USD fork and a cantilever-pattern shock absorber, both fully adjustable for this brute. To drop the anchor, the Italian company has employed 330mm discs up front paired with Brembo Stylema calipers and a 265mm disc at the rear. This setup is straight from the Diavel 1260.
As expected from any Ducati, the Diavel V4 comes with a full electronic suite which comprises four riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet (new). This is further backed by multi-level cornering traction control, ABS and wheelie control. Then there are creature comforts like the quickshifter and cruise control, and the launch control to get you out of that comfort zone. All the settings can be toggled via the 5-inch colour TFT console.
Ducati has made some serious changes to the appearance of the Diavel. The new V4 gets even more muscular than its predecessor with 20-litre beefy, aggressive fuel tank, a compact LED headlight and a completely redesigned tail section with a unique honeycomb-style LED tail light.
The Ducati Diavel V4 comes with an accessible 790mm seat height with centrally-mounted footpegs and new handlebar which sits 20mm closer to the rider.
The Ducati Diavel V4 is expected to hit the European markets in January 2023, and given the company’s portfolio in India, we could see the Italian Diavel here in the second half of next year.
