The sharpest and most aggressive naked from the Italian bikemaker does not run on carbon wheels!

Ducati has finally launched the track-focused naked motorcycle, the Streetfighter V4 SP in India. The ‘SP’ stands for Sport Production, signifying the hyper-track-focused performance that the streetfighter has to offer. The motorcycle is already available for bookings and will be a limited-run model.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP is priced at Rs 34,99,000 (ex-showroom India). The V4 SP is Rs 13.95 lakh more expensive than the Streetfighter V4 and Rs 10.75 lakh more expensive than the Streetfighter V4 S.

This also makes the Kawasaki Z H2 SE the V4 SP’s closest rival. Other premium naked motorcycles on offer in India include the BMW S 1000 R and Triumph Speed Triple 1200. The V4 SP is the most expensive naked motorcycle in India.

What’s New?

Based on the sharp, agile and performance-oriented Streetfighter V4 S, the V4 SP is even lighter and gets a more aggressive package to tackle the streets as it would tackle the track.

It gets an all-new carbon fibre body which is wrapped in Ducati’s MotoGP-inspired Winter Test livery, giving it a rather cutting-edge appeal. The V4 SP weighs 2.5 kg less than the V4 S, tipping the scales at 175.5kg (dry), which should improve its power-to-weight ratio.

Contributing to the weight loss are the lighter Marchesini forged magnesium wheels along with carbon fibre wings and heel guards. The braking hardware consists of Brembo Stylema R calipers with twin 330mm discs at the front, and a 245mm disc at the rear. The international-spec V4 SP gets carbon fibre wheels.

The V4 SP comes suspended on Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension: an Ohlins NIX-30 USD fork up front, and an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock. Other updates include STM-EVO SBK dry clutch, adjustable rider footpegs, carbon front mudguard and a single seat setup. It also gets a lighter Lithium-ion battery.

What’s Unchanged?

Powering the Streetfighter V4 SP is the same 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine as the V4 S model. It even produces the same insane power and torque figures at 208PS and 123Nm. However, with a slightly better power-to-weight ratio, the real-world performance is bound to be better as well.

It continues to be packed with electronics including a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, cornering ABS, traction control, slide control, wheelie control, power launch and engine brake control, and three ride modes.

Zig Says

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP is truly a performance machine for the street inspired by MotoGP. However, the slight upgrades do not justify the significant premium of Rs 10.75 lakh over the V4 S model, which also makes the V4 SP more expensive than any of its competition. And the lack of carbon fibre wheels despite the high premium is a letdown.
