MG’s first product to be launched in the country, the Hector, and its three-row sibling, the Hector Plus, have been given a mild makeover, but the changes are more than skin-deep.
Nope, there’s nothing new under the bonnet, but what the SUV does get is an entirely rejigged cabin with a new dashboard layout and what not. While its prices are expected to be revealed at the Auto Expo 2023, we take a look at everything that’s fresh on the SUV through 10 images:
The big change up front is pretty obvious. The grille is bigger than ever and gets diamond-shaped inserts or, as MG likes to call it, the ‘Argyle-inspired Diamond mesh grille.’
Take a closer look and you’ll notice a revised front bumper with a different housing for the head and fog lights with plenty of glossy black highlights. In the middle of the chrome-finish front lip sits the radar for the ADAS, more details about which have been jotted later in the article.

The SUV is ditto in profile to the outgoing model. The wheels, creases and the roofline are the same as the outgoing model.
Move to the rear and you’ll notice the taillights are the same. But here, they are now connected by vertically illuminated angled slats, a neat touch. The design of the bumper has also been tweaked slightly, but the overall styling is still very similar to the pre-facelift model.
MG has also added a new Dune Brown shade to Hector's existing colour palette which comprises Havana Grey, Candy White, Aurora Silver, White and Black, Glaze Red and Starry Black. The White and Black hue is a dual-tone option.
Step inside and you’ll realise that’s where the crux of the revisions lie. The dashboard layout is brand new, looks more premium and even feels more premium than before – thanks to soft-touch materials all-around.
The 14-inch portrait screen takes the centre stage of the dual-tone cabin. It's also the largest portrait screen seen in any car in India and boasts more connected features than before as well.
With this facelift, MG has added 11 Level 2 ADAS features to the Hector’s features list. Also new are the automatic turn indicators, improved connected car technology, infotainment-controlled sunroof (control the percentage of opening) and voice-controlled ambient lighting (multiple colours). The rest of the features are the same as the outgoing model.
That’s everything new on the facelifted SUV. While it has gotten a mild styling revision, the focus has undoubtedly been on improving the experience inside the cabin with a premium and bolstered features list. No powertrain changes means it’ll continue with its 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine choices.

We expect Hector's pricing to creep upwards compared to its current cost that ranges between Rs 14.72 lakh and Rs 20.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Plus, all of these new changes will be available on the six- and seven-seater version (Hector Plus) of the SUV as well. Stick around to know how the new package fares in the real world and stacks up against its competition.
