Last month, we got you the exclusive first look at Auto Engina’s new project called the Himalayan 822. Now, the Pune-based company is a step closer to making this manic build a reality. We have had the pleasure to witness the parallel-twin engine come to life.
Auto Engina hasn’t simply bolted two engines together, but has meticulously planned out the details. This engine features a custom crankcase, specifically designed to accommodate the two-cylinder blocks seamlessly. As for the block itself, Auto Engina has done fabrication and machining. With this, the company also had to redesign the oil supply routing.

For the crankshaft, Auto Engina has used two stock units with a coupler and has given it a 180-degree cranking for better balancing. Furthermore, the 180-degree firing order should result in linear power delivery, and the uneven firing order should translate to a raspy exhaust note.
The engine fired up successfully, and though the exact performance figures haven’t been revealed yet, the team is expecting this powerhouse to dish out over 45PS.
Autologue Design, another Pune-based company, is working on the design of this custom Himalayan 822. The teams intend to get the bike up and running before this year’s Rider Mania and have a grand unveiling at the event. Stay tuned for our exclusive coverage on this burly ADV.
