In the last chapter of Auto Engina’s 822cc Himalayan build, which we have been exclusively tracking, we listed down some of the key mechanical changes that have gone into this radical creation. Not a lot has changed since then, mechanically speaking, but the builders have conducted multiple rounds of tests, and the following changes have been adapted:
The bike is now heavier (roughly 235kg) and has more power at its disposal than a stock unit. Hence both the front telescopic fork and rear monoshock have been tweaked to handle more load and stress.
The weight of the engine and wider swingarm has had an impact on the stock suspension. Auto Engina has tweaked the monoshock to counter the new mass and stress gained, but also has raised the rear subframe (which is also new) by two inches.
A slight revision to the ergonomics has been made by giving it a new and wider handlebar. This should help improve the overall handling of the motorcycle too.
From what we’ve been told, the motorcycle is now structurally ready. Now comes phase two of this build - the design. This is where Autologue Designs of Pune step in and give this mammoth a proper badass look. Here’s a rendering they put out, and boy oh boy, it looks good! One more thing – make sure to catch this bike’s reveal at the India Bike Week 2022.
