  • 2022 Ertiga features a revised grille insert and dual-barrel projector headlights.
  • Gets the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the Baleno.
  • Features a revised 1.5-litre petrol engine with Dual VVT, paired with a new 6-speed torque converter.
  • CNG to be offered in higher-spec ZXI trim.
  • Launch expected in the next few days.

The facelifted 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV has been teased in India ahead of its launch. Pre-launch bookings are now open and you can book the people mover online or at a dealership. Plus, the optional CNG, earlier limited to the mid-spec VXI, will be available in the higher-spec ZXI as well. There’s one big mechanical upgrade to speak of.

But starting with the design changes, which are minor. The revised dual-barrel projector headlights and new grille inserts give the front end a good enough refresh. Though, from previous spy shots, it looks like the rest of the design remains similar to the outgoing model. Have a closer look at the facelifted Ertiga here

Inside, the dashboard design and layout is likely to remain unchanged. However, the facelifted MPV will feature the updated 7-inch Smartplay Pro infotainment system from the Baleno. This system features an updated user interface and connected car tech (telematics only).

The rest of the feature list should be similar to the outgoing car and you can read about it in our in-depth first drive review

The Ertiga will feature a revised version of the 1.5-litre petrol engine with Dual-VVT (dubbed DualJet) and mild-hybrid technology. While a 5-speed manual is retained, the biggest talking point is the new 6-speed torque converter instead of the ancient 4-speed unit. The new ‘box also offers paddle shifters in case you wish to take manual control. This engine can be specced with a CNG option as well.

You might need to shell out a bit more for the updated Ertiga over the current model’s price that starts from Rs 8.13 lakh onwards. It will renew its rivalry with the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo, and the soon-to-be-launched 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6
