  • Compass Trailhawk to come back in facelifted avatar.
  • Will get redesigned bumpers, body cladding, and chunkier alloy wheels.
  • Boasts improved off-road credibility thanks to hardware upgrades.
  • Will be priced more than the top-spec Diesel AT that costs Rs 29.34 lakh.

Jeep India is all set to bring in the Compass Trailhawk, which has been off the shelves since the updated model was introduced, in a facelifted avatar in February. Like before, the Trailhawk will get rugged styling touches and hardware upgrades for more off-road cred.

Keeping in line with its intentions, the Trailhawk gets body cladding for a beefier look. Also, the smaller alloy rims and chunkier tyres should come handy while negotiating some serious stuff. Last but not least, the hood gets a black sticker to prevent sun glare, and there is the iconic Trail Rated badging on the front fender.

Inside, the red detailing is much more subtle than before, limited to just the stitching on the steering wheel cover, gear knob boot, and seats. Like before, the Trailhawk gets a black cabin, which should be easier to clean if the interior gets dirty. Even the feature list should be similar to the top-spec trim.

In India, the Trailhawk will continue to utilise the 170PS 2-litre diesel engine, driving all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Off-road cred is the main difference between the standard Compass and Trailhawk. A ‘Trailrated’ Jeep means the SUV gets improved traction, ground clearance, articulation, manoeuvrability and water crossing ability.

And to ensure the Trailhawk performs well over the broken stuff, it gets taller springs for better approach, departure, and breakover angles. Part of this is due to the restyled bumpers as well. Also, the 4LOW mode has a low 20:1 ratio to help it crawl over steep inclines. And last but not least, the air intakes are set higher up to aid better water wading capabilities.

The Trailhawk will be the range-topping trim in the Compass range, priced over the top-spec Diesel 4X4 that costs Rs 29.34 lakh (ex-showroom). At these prices, the Compass will square off against the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, VW Tiguan, and the recently launched facelifted Skoda Kodiaq
