Skoda India will begin its 2022 innings with the launch of the facelifted Kodiaq on January 14. The premium luxury SUV has started reaching select dealerships, and you can unofficially book one. It’s likely to come in three broad trims: Sportline (New), Style, and Laurin and Klement.

The front grille is now a size larger and gets a generous serving of chrome, and the LED headlamps are sleeker than ever. The air dam has also been slightly redesigned, but you might not even notice at first glance. The facelifted SUV will roll on new dual-tone alloy wheels, with updated LED tail lamps and bumpers rounding off the design.

Skoda’s new two-spoke steering wheel is the only design change inside. The rest of the cabin is the same as before. We believe the Kodiaq will get new features like an updated 12-speaker Canton sound system, a wireless phone charger, multi-colour footwell ambient lighting, and possibly ventilated and heated front seats with massage function.

Other features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a digital driver’s display, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, and auto headlamps and wipers.

Passenger safety will be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring.

The most significant change will be underneath the hood, with the 150PS 2-litre TDI now making way for the VW Group’s new 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine. As was the case before, drive will be sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq will be locally assembled and is expected to be priced from Rs 35 lakh onwards. This locks it in a feud with the Toyota Fortuner petrol and the recently launched facelifted VW Tiguan.
