Tata Curvv EV to launch on August 7, with the ICE models to follow later.
Just a few days after the Tata Curvv and Curvv EV officially broke cover, a production ready variant of the SUV-coupe’s ICE model has been spied in the flesh, but this time without any camouflage. The real-life images reveal a few details, including a new colour option, so without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s what.
The production ready Tata Curvv’s design is in line with the concepts and current-gen Tata’s design language as it resembles the Nexon, Harrier and Safari lineage. Upfront, it gets a connected LED DRLs situated up above and LED headlights positioned in the bumper corners like found on the higher models. It also gets plenty of horizontal elements on its grille and bumper vents. It was also spotted with a front camera with parking sensors.
The Curvv SUV-coupe’s side profile gets a sloping roofline along with flush-type door handles with illumination and petal-design alloy wheels. The model spotted also sported the Daytona Grey shade which is already found in other Tata models. The rear gets a higher boot lid due to the sloping roofline and features a connected LED strip running across the width of the car and tapering down to the side fender. The reverse light and reflectors have been placed lower down on the bumpers and gets a blacked-out lower part of the bumper with a silver finished skid plate.
Though the recent sightings do not give out the interior images, our previous spy-shots suggest that the Curvv will have the interior dashboard layout resembling the one in the Nexon. It will get the new steering wheel design as found in recent Tata SUVs like the Safari with an illuminated logo.
Feature niceties are expected to include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, and wireless phone charging.
On the safety front, it is expected to encompass 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control as standard across the trims along with 360 degree camera setup with front and rear parking sensors, hill-assist with electronic parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system and ADAS features like blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
The Tata Curvv ICE models will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options to choose from. The petrol engine is expected to be a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit delivering 125 PS and 225 Nm.
The diesel engine is expected to be the same 1.5-litre engine producing 115 PS and 260 Nm seen in the Nexon. Transmission options for the petrol variants are expected to be a 6-speed manual, and a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, while the diesel models could get a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Tata Curvv EV on the other hand is also expected to be offered with two battery pack options: Medium Range and Long Range with a maximum claimed driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge.
The Tata Curvv will rival the upcoming Citroen Basalt and as an SUV-coupe alternative to compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. We anticipate the pricing to be starting from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards for the ICE models and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Curvv EV.
