Say you’re on a budget, Rs 7 lakh to be specific, and want a car with a big boot for your weekend trips or just to store your kid’s pram and the week’s groceries all together at once. Your options are tight, but you’re in luck because we’ve just made the job easier for you. Here’s a list of 5 cars with a starting price of under Rs 7 lakh, that have the biggest boot spaces:
The Tata Tigor has the highest boot space for a car starting under Rs 7 lakh. It boasts a generous space of 419 litres, which is even bigger than some jacked up SUVs. The Tigor’s prices start at Rs 6.29 lakh, although the top-spec trim goes for Rs 8.94 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The Renault Kiger boasts a boot stowage capacity of 405 litres, which helps it grab the second spot in this list. The Kiger is sold from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 11.22 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite having the same underpinnings as the Magnite, the Kiger has been packaged well for space, which helps it offer a significantly large boot space.

Seems like sedans are making a comeback, as another sub-compact sedan makes the list and rounds off the podium with a boot space of 402-litres. Prices for the Hyundai Aura range between Rs 6.43 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Despite being based on the small Grand i10 Nios, the Hyundai Exter packs a decent storage space of 391-litres. That said, our real-world tests have suggested that the packaging is such that you can only fit multiple medium suitcases and not large ones. That’s down to the depth of the boot, which isn’t too deep. As for the prices, the Exter retails from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 10.14 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Maruti Dzire doesn’t leave a lot to be desired for a practical family car. One of its many good qualities is its boot space, which comes in at 378-litres. Despite that number being the smallest in this list, the Dzire gobbles up more luggage than others. Prices for the Dzire range between Rs 6.51 lakh and Rs 9.38 lakh (ex-showroom).

Do note that boot space capacity figures claimed by the manufacturers can be a bit deceptive. They aren’t incorrect, but rather misleading, considering that the amount of luggage you can actually fit depends on the packaging of the car itself. Also, the type of luggage and how it is being loaded can also make a difference in how much stuff you can pack. What’s gonna be your pick off this list?
