Partners with Belfast Industries to build battery swapping infrastructure in the state
Taiwanese electric two-wheeler maker Gogoro has partnered with automotive systems manufacturer Belrise Industries to announce a strategic investment of USD 2.5 billion (Rs 2,045 crores) in Maharashtra. This investment will be infused over a period of eight years to build battery swapping infrastructure across the state.
This agreement was signed at the Maharashtra pavilion, World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The 50-50 percent partnership between Gogoro and Belrise would look to leverage the former’s smart battery stations, swapping technology, network management and energy storage solutions with the latter’s expertise in manufacturing two-wheeled and three-wheeled chassis.
Thus in addition to setting up a smart infrastructure, the partnership is also expected to foster smart electric vehicle manufacturing and assembly in Maharashtra. Gogoro had announced its intentions of diversifying in India back in November, as it kicked off its Indian operations.
