Greener CNG Fuel Option Now Available With Maruti Grand Vitara

• Maruti Grand Vitara CNG launched in Delta and Zeta trims.

• Priced at Rs 12.85 lakh and Rs 14.84 lakh (all prices ex-showroom), respectively.

• CNG powertrain produces 88PS and 121.5Nm and boasts 26.6 km/kg fuel efficiency.

• CNG trims carry a premium of Rs 95,000 over corresponding petrol variants.

• The Grand Vitara CNG has no direct rival as of now.

Maruti continues to build on its extensive portfolio of cars with alternative fuel options with the introduction of the Grand Vitara CNG, the third NEXA model to be available with CNG after the Baleno and XL6. 

With prices starting from Rs 12.85 lakh (ex-showroom), the CNG kit in the compact SUV is available in the Delta and Zeta trims. Maruti now has a total of 14 CNG models in its lineup.

Price

Maruti has priced the two Grand Vitara CNG variants at Rs 12.85 lakh and Rs 14.84 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). That’s a Rs 95,000 difference compared to its corresponding petrol powered variants. 

Specifications

The CNG kit is paired to the 1.5-litre motor and a manual transmission only. In CNG mode, this setup has an output of 88PS and 121.5Nm (15PS and 14.5Nm less than standard car) and offers a fuel efficiency of 26.6 km/kg. In comparison, when run on petrol the powertrain returns 21.11kmpl (with mild-hybrid assist).

Rivals

Considering there are no CNG-powered compact SUVs in the market as of now, the Grand Vitara CNG is currently unrivalled. But the Toyota Hyryder is due to get a CNG powertrain soon, and when it does, it’ll compete head on with the Maruti Grand Vitara.
