Camaraderie of riders, comfort of friends, cacophony of motorcycles and music - these are all the aspects that one of the country’s biggest biking festivals, India Bike Week is well-known for. Befittingly, the tenth edition of the India Bike Week was powered by Gulf SynTrac. The company’s association with the famed event comes just at the right time where the Indian two-wheeler industry is witnessing a massive growth in the premium segment. Gulf’s SynTrac is a top-of-the-line, fully-synthetic two-wheeler engine oil meant for high performance.
Prelude to the two day fest (December 8 and 9) kicked off with several Chai Pakoda rides organised by Gulf SynTrac and IBW in 12 cities across the country. Gulf Syntrac also had an exciting contest on Instagram offering lucky riders free passes for the event, along with exclusive Gulf merchandise. Even owners of custom bikes got a chance to win free passes with the event.
Day one of the IBW fest kicked off with riders from different parts of the country making a grand entrance at the Vagator hill top, Goa, followed by a meet-and-greet of all the speakers at the event, and an introduction of the different tracks laid out at the fest. There were several sections hosting exciting stuff across the sprawling ground.
The ‘BIG TRIP’ powered by Gulf SynTrac was all about stories of riders who braved all the odds in their journeys. On day one, solo rider Reshu Noor spoke about her smashing stereotypes, being a female biker. It was followed by Arjun Raina of motoexotica_india talking about turning his passion into reality by converting factory-built machines into custom works of art. Singaporean rider Juvena Huang, known for her epic ride from Singapore all the way to the Czech Republic, overlanding and cross-country riding on nothing but a humble scooter. Nothing characterised love and companionship like Simon and Lisa Thomas, who have been together for 17 years, covering over 8 lakh km on their motorcycles. They’ve witnessed the world, ranging from the dense Amazonian forests to vast expanses of the Saharan desert -- all in the comfort of each other and their bikes.
Day two had Yogesh Alekari, talk about his experiences of travelling all the way from Mumbai to London and back. Rider Claudia Wodarz painted a picture in words about her solo adventures of riding across central and southeast Asia. Gaurav Sharma spoke about his insane adventures of traversing through the iconic Silk Road, covering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Mongolia on a humble air-cooled dual-purpose motorcycle with nothing but his wits, will and kindness of strangers. Lithuanian rider Karolis Mieliauskas gave us the chills with his stories of riding on the coldest inhabited place on earth, braving temperatures of minus 50 degrees celsius, that too on a motorcycle!
Riders from riding clubs from across the country got to relax and soak in the experience of India Bike Week on the bean bags at the Gulf Syntrac Lounge in the Club Village, which also included a dedicated parking area. Customers also got to buy and experience Gulf’s SynTrac range of engine oils at the Gulf Bikestop Professional stall, and even measure their motorcycle’s power and torque figures at the wheel, at the Dyno Wars stall.
Precision riding participants at Throttle Mania (in collaboration with Tiivra helmets) put their skills on display around the obstacle course where they not only have to go as high as they can over a half velodrome, but also pick up flags and complete a lap around the circuit before the timer ends. It was accompanied by an exciting quiz competition in which the winners won some super cool merchandise.
The best of the racers showcased their skills and grit in the Gulf Syntrac’s Pentathlon and keeping the adrenaline at an all-time high.
FMX riders Thomas Wirnsberg from Austria and Sebastian Westberg from Finland eclipsed the setting sun at the FMX arena with their mind-boggling display of flamboyant jumps on their special Gulf-liveried motorcycles keeping everyone hooked to the edge of their seat.
Summing up the 2-day event, Amit Gheji, Head - Marketing, Gulf Oil Lubricants India said, "As India Bike Week 2023 comes to a thrilling conclusion, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited is incredibly proud to have been a part of this spectacular celebration of motorcycling culture. Engaging with the dynamic community of motorcyclists and enthusiasts was an absolute delight for us, and being the presenter of the iconic 'Chai-Pakoda Rides' is a truly remarkable experience and we look forward to the remaining rides in the coming months. Witnessing the diverse range of motorcycles, the passion of the riders and the exhilarating FMX show added an extra layer of excitement to the event. India Bike Week was not just about motorcycles; it was a celebration of the freedom and camaraderie that riding brings to people's lives. Gulf is immensely proud to have played a role in creating an unforgettable experience for the biking community, and as the curtains fall on this edition, we hope to continue celebrating the motorcycling culture across India. Apart from this helping us forge a strong bond with the biker brotherhood, it will also of course help us shore up demand for our premium, synthetic top-of-the-line products like Gulf SynTrac engine oil. As the curtains draw on this year's IBW, our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the incredible community of bikers, the organizers, and everyone who made this event a roaring success. Here's to more rides, more adventures, and the everlasting bond of the open road."
All in all, the 2023 India Bike Week was an absolutely fantastic experience of all things motorcycling.
