With the new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift expected soon on our shores, we have compiled a list of top 5 new things that have been added in the car. The Swift is an important car for the carmaker thanks to its immense popularity and strong brand recall. Maruti Suzuki has already begun testing the next-gen model, which is expected to break cover next year.
Here are the 5 new things that have been added in the new Swift in Japan:
Maruti has debuted the latest Z-Series engine with the new Swift. It is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol(NA) unit that claims to offer a better fuel economy than the outgoing K-Series 4-pot motor. While numbers have not been mentioned, Suzuki claims a better low-end performance while offering the same performance as the K-Series. This engine will be paired with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The new Swift in Japan features a new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The company claims it will offer quieter operations as well as higher fuel economy thanks to its ability to efficiently absorb engine’s rotational fluctuations. It is also lightweight, helping improve the overall fuel consumption of the car.
What remains to be seen is if the next-gen Swift will get the CVT or a more cost effective AMT, which is the case of the current model.

The biggest highlight of the new Swift is the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, which is already on offer in cars like the Baleno, Grand Vitara and Fronx. This unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as connected car tech with over-the-air updates. Additionally, a compatible dashcam can also be connected which will allow playback, manual recording and capture of still images.
The most notable addition to the new Swift is the ADAS features like forward collision assist, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, pedestrian and cross traffic support, low-speed forward and rear brake support and blindspot assist as well. The system will also have driver fatigue monitoring and high beam assist amongst others.
While the India-spec model has been spotted with blind spot monitoring, it remains to be seen if the final version will get it or not.
The new Swift will also come with an electronic parking brake and auto hold function for the first time. This will free up some space in the lower central console, while auto hold is very convenient in stop-and-go traffic situations.
So, which amongst these top 5 takes your fancy? and which one are you looking forward to seeing in action in the Swift? Let us know down below in the comments section. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift could be launched with a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh, and compete with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Triber and Tata Punch in the Indian market.
