At the recent Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, Tata showcased its SUV-crossover, the Curvv, in a close-to-production avatar. It was also the first time that we got confirmation that the Tata Curvv will get the choice of a diesel powertrain as well. Here are the details of internal combustion engine (ICE) Curvv’s powertrain options we know so far.
Initially, when the Curvv ICE concept made its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata showcased it with a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This new direct injection unit is rated at 125 PS and 225 Nm, more than the current turbo-petrol’s output of 120 PS and 170 Nm. It will be offered with both manual and dual-clutch automatic transmission options.

With the 2024 Curvv's showcase at the Bharat Mobility Expo, Tata presented us with details of its diesel engine as well. It features the familiar 1.5-litre diesel unit that generates 115 PS and 260 Nm. While Tata has mentioned that it will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, it is expected that it will also be available with an automatic option as well, hopefully not the usual AMT.
