Mercedes-Benz has been setting benchmarks in the luxury vehicle segment ever since the brand’s arrival in India. In the year 2024, there have been 6 car launches in the first half and 7 more expected in the second half starting with the launch of the EQA and EQB SUVs. Here is a list of the remaining 5 cars that are going to be launched for the remainder of 2024.
Mercedes-Benz will be launching the sixth-generation of the E-Class LWB on our shores and the longer version of the luxury sedan is expected to be priced north of Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue its rivalry with the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series, the latter set to get a generational update on July 24.
The new E-Class comes with almost all the luxuries and comforts that you would want. The features include a 14.4-inch infotainment system and dual 12.3-inch displays (for the driver’s display and the passenger’s display), a 21-speaker Burmester sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting, and connected car tech. We expect the Indian-spec version to come with most of these features.
The E-Class LWB’s specifications have not been revealed yet, but the International model comes with multiple engines including plug-in hybrid, petrol and diesel engine options. It also gets a 48V mild hybrid motor paired with some of the engine options.
For those who want a performance version of the C-Class and a car which can be flaunted at car meets, should consider waiting for the new-generation Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance, which will be launched soon in India. It is expected to be priced around Rs 1.7 crore (ex-showroom), and will rival the Audi RS 5 Sportback and BMW M4.
The features onboard are expected to be similar to the new C-Class, which includes a 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch driver’s display. Being an AMG, it will obviously have a sportier looking cabin with AMG-specific steering wheel, graphics and seats.
The AMG C 63 S will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, comprising a 476PS 2-litre in-line-four turbo-petrol engine that works together with a 204 PS electric motor to develop a combined output of 680 PS. This enables the sedan to a 0-100 kmph run in 3.4 seconds, and has a limited top speed of 280 kmph.
Mercedes-Benz, at its EQA launch event, teased a cabriolet Globally, Mercedes has two cabriolets on offer - the SL and CLE - the former which is already available here. So therefore, Mercedes is expected to launch the CLE 53 AMG Cabriolet towards the end of 2024. It will expand Mercedes' range of convertibles in India, and will likely be priced above the Rs 1 crore mark (ex-showroom).
Internationally, the CLE 53 AMG Cabriolet gets features such as a vertically-oriented 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a heads-up display, a fully digital 12.3-inch driver’s display, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and a Burmester sound system.
It comes with a 3-litre six-cylinder engine that makes 449 PS and 560 Nm and is capable of sending the car from 0-100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds. Transmission on offer is a 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox which transmits power to all the wheels.
Mercedes-Benz’ first ever electric Maybach model, the Maybach EQS 680 SUV, will be launched in India soon at an expected price of Rs 3.8 crore (ex-showroom). The SUV will be Mercedes’ flagship EV on our shores.
Being a Maybach, the cabin will be loaded with features and comforts which will give you an ultra luxurious experience in the car. Some of the niceties include a 17.7-inch OLED infotainment system, dual 12.3-inch displays for the driver’s and the passenger’s display heated and ventilated front seats with 12-way electronic adjustability, four-zone AC, panoramic sunroof, powered rear seats with massaging function, and soft close doors.
The EQS SUV will be equipped with a 107.8 kWh battery pack teamed with a dual motor setup producing an output of 658 PS and 950 Nm. It has a WLTP-claimed range of up to 600 km. Even though it's an ultra-luxury SUV, it can go from 0-100 kmph in a blitzing 4.1 seconds.
The Mercedes EQG, or the electric version of the iconic G-Wagen, is expected to be launched by the end of 2024. Bookings are already open, and deliveries could commence from 2025. We expect it to be priced around Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom). The off-roader retains the original design of the G-Wagen, staying true to its roots, but gets minor differentiating design touches.
The electric G-Wagen comes packing with a range of features including dual 12.3-inch displays for the driver’s display and the infotainment system with EV-specific graphics, a Burmester sound system, a 360-degree camera, ADAS features, multiple airbags, and a wireless phone charger.
The electric G-Wagen gets a 116 kWh battery pack with four motors making 587 PS and a mammoth 1,164 Nm. It will offer a WLTP-claimed range of up to 473 km. For off-roading prowess, it will get a low-range transfer case. Additional off-roading features include G-Turn, G- Steering, Intelligent Off-road Crawl and a Transparent Bonnet.
