The Curvv carries a bunch of ‘firsts’ for the Indian marque, including styling elements and even a possible new powertrain

The Tata Curvv had been in the pipeline for quite some time now and the multiple appearances, albeit non-consensual (spy shots), didn’t make the wait any easier. But now the SUV-coupe’s exterior has been revealed alongside its electric avatar, the Curvv EV, ahead of their launch next month.

Before the full car reveal takes place, let’s get familiar with the Curvv’s exterior styling in 5 images:

Tata Curvv: Design

At first glance from the front, the Tata Curvv boasts a very similar design to the new Nexon and Harrier. The sleek LED DRL strip running the width of the bonnet, and the split headlights and fog lamps sitting in the lower section of the bumper is something we are used to and familiar with. The grille is split halfway across and has rather intricate detailing with the body colour contrasting with the Piano Black elements.

If it wasn’t already daunting enough, you get a flared bonnet with plenty of muscle, which adds to its brawny look.

But unfamiliarity kicks in as soon as you start moving to the side and things start becoming a little sportier here. A sloping roofline, imitating premium SUV-coupe models like BMW X4, draws attention immediately.

While the roofline looks sporty, the wheel arches and side cladding look rugged and stand out with the black finish. The Curvv also boasts flush door handles, which is a first for Tata, and the stylish 18-inch alloy wheels will surely not go unnoticed.

Unlike the front, the rear is unique to the Curvv. The upright boot lid gets a sleek LED light bar running across it, while your fog and reversing lights are located down below, in a rather sculpted part of the bumper. The roof even gets a small split spoiler, while the bumper gets some contrast with Piano black panels and a silver colour down below. One thing’s for sure is that the Curvv is bound to stand out from the sea of conventional compact SUVs.

Tata Curvv: Interior and features

Tata hasn’t revealed the Curvv’s interior pictures yet, but we had a glance at the production-ready cabin via a spy shot earlier, which hinted at a very similar cabin design as the Nexon. It’ll take some cues from the Safari and Harrier as well and there won’t be any scarcity of features either.

The list is expected to include a 12.3-inch infotainment system in the centre, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, powered driver’s seat and a wireless phone charger.

Safety kit is likely to be taken care of with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.

Tata Curvv: Expected Powertrain

Tata has confirmed two engine options for the Curvv - a petrol and a diesel. The former is expected to be a new 125 PS/225 Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and the latter will likely be a Nexon-sourced 115 PS/260 Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The turbo-petrol is likely to get a manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the diesel engine could get an AMT as an option alongside the manual.

Tata Curvv: Price and reveal

Tata Curvv’s prices will be revealed soon after the launch of Curvv EV, which will take place on August 7. We expect the prices for the Tata Curvv to start from around the Rs 10.5 lakh mark.
