After months of anticipation, Harley-Davidson has surprised us with the launch of its most affordable bike yet, the X440. The retro roadster comes in three different variants with differing price tags, to cater to a wider audience. We dive deeper into these variants and explain the differences between the three.
For an affordable price point, the Denim variant of the bike runs on spoke wheels with tubed tyres. The Mustard colour scheme on this one is more simple and single-tone, and even the logo and bike name are sticker jobs instead of a 3D logo. To improve the aesthetic appeal of the roadster, you get blacked-out engine fins.
The feature list is pretty good, too – all LED lighting, TFT console with DTE (Distance-to-empty), a clock, real-time mileage indicator, gear indicator and battery health. Apart from that, it also gets basic smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, music control, and call and message alerts. It also gets a 3.0 USB port near the console. This variant is the most affordable and is priced at Rs 2,29,000, ex-showroom.
The most functional addition to this variant is alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. This would make fixing punctures a whole lot easier, as compared to the tubed rubbers. For a snazzier aesthetic, the Vivid variant comes draped in classy dual-tone colours – Metallic Thick Red and Metallic Dark Silver. Even the Harley logo is a lot more stylish on this variant.
Apart from that, the feature list on this variant is the same as the Denim variant and is priced at Rs 2,49,000, ex-showroom.
Now the roadster looks the most stunning in this variant with the Denim Black colour scheme, with a stealthy blacked-out finish. It also features 3D branding, along with machined diamond-cut alloy wheels for that extra oomph. The colour scheme also comes with 3D decals on the tank and machined engine fins.
While the features list is the same on this one as well, it gets additional features including LTE connectivity, geo-fencing and remote immobilisation of the bike. It is priced at Rs 2,69,000, commanding Rs 20,000 over the Vivid variant.
While all three variants have a lot to offer, we would go for the Vivid variant. Well, at 20k premium over the Denim variant, the Vivid comes with better colours and snazzier graphics, and more importantly, it gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, so more convenient. In terms of features, it isn’t missing out on connectivity and premium bits. And lastly, instead of going for the S variant, you can opt for accessories and customisation, something Harley owners generally prefer to do. Bookings for the X440 have already commenced with a price of Rs 5,000.
