Alcazar facelift could get a thorough makeover inspired from the Creta facelift along with a few new features

The Hyundai Alcazar is basically an elongated Creta with an extra row of seats. Considering that the donor car, the Creta facelift, has already been launched with significant revisions inside and out, its updates are likely to preview what we can expect from the Alcazar facelift. Its launch is expected later this year, so here’s what you can expect from its 6-/7-seater sibling:

Similar design

Hyundai revamped the 2024 Creta to a large extent, so much so that its styling and the overall package can now be considered a lot more ‘palatable’ than before. Given that the Creta and Alcazar shared a similar face, the same LED DRLs with the split headlights and upright grille seen on the 2024 Creta can be expected for the Alcazar as well. But expect minor tweaks to be made to the grille inserts and bumper for distinction.

The side profile is expected to remain the same as the outgoing model, but it could feature a new set of alloy wheels. Now coming to the rear, the current model’s rear styling never quite fit in with the “I-want-attention” styling of the front. But this will likely be rectified with the upcoming facelift, maybe in the form of a similar connected LED taillight setup as featured on the Creta.

It is possible that the carmaker gives the Alcazar facelift its unique identity, considering that the current model had slightly different styling cues to the outgoing Creta. But this is something that only time will confirm.

Same cabin, new themes

Significant changes follow inside the cabin of the 2024 Creta and the same is expected for the Alcazar facelift as well. Given that the styling has been identical previously, a same Creta-like cabin with dual integrated screens can be expected for the 6/7-seater SUV. But there should be a new colour theme on offer, especially given that the Creta only gets a single dual-tone theme option.

New features will include a dual-zone climate control, and even the new Level-2 ADAS features that have been added to the Creta’s features list. Equipment like the front ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch driver’s display, and 360-degree camera should be carried forward.

Hyundai being Hyundai, you can expect an expansive list of standard safety features, which will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes and ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Powertrains

No changes are expected in this department. The Alcazar offers two of the 2024 Creta’s engine options – a 160 PS/253 Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 116 PS/250 Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine. In the Alcazar, the diesel is paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, while the turbo-petrol gets the option of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic).

These powertrain options should be retained as it is. It will continue to be a front-wheel driven SUV and it currently doesn’t and probably won’t get the Creta’s 1.5-litre NA petrol engine option.

Price and Rivals

Considering that the Creta facelift has received a price bump of around Rs 1 lakh, a similar increment can be expected for the Alcazar facelift as well. While no announcement has been made just yet, a launch should be on the cards for this year itself.

Current prices juggle between Rs 16.77 lakh and Rs 21.23 lakh (ex-showroom) and the changes will help it put up a tougher fight against the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700.
