The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been one capable off roader, and comes at a pretty attractive price tag. Even the engine is grunty enough to get you out of difficult situations, and is not that bad for touring either. But one major concern that has been prevalent in the ADV is its spoke wheels with tubed tyres, which are a pain to fix when punctured.
Easing up that issue is Bengaluru-based Dismotech offering an aftermarket solution – tubeless spoke-wheels for the Royal Enfield Himalayan. At present, Dismotech only has the rear 17-inch wheel. This forged aluminum unit comes with fully assembled nipples, hubs and spokes. Do not be disheartened as Dismotech has plans to soon introduce a front tubeless spoke wheel as well.
The whole 17 inch unit, with all the mounting kit costs Rs 20,999. It may seem like a substantial amount to shell out on a single wheel. However, considering the benefits of tubeless wheels while offroading, it’s worth the price.
Lastly, bike owners might want to check if wheel replacement would void the warranty, but if the warranty is already over, then getting these shouldn’t be an issue. A smart person would swap the wheel before taking it to the service centre, and then swap it back to the tubeless one.
Interestingly, Royal Enfield is set to launch the Himalayan 450 in the coming months with much more performance and offroad dynamics.
