It is confirmed that Mercedes-Benz will launch the new generation of its best-selling luxury sedan, the E-Class on October 9. The new avatar of the E-Class brings in plenty of upgrades, especially in terms of technology and features. Here’s an overview of the luxury sedan ahead of its launch:
The E-Class was already a great looking sedan, which is why Mercedes-Benz has not changed a lot in terms of its design language. However, it sports a new large grille with tiny tri-pointed star elements and a chrome surround, a tweaked bumper and new sleeker looking LED headlights.
It sits on 18-inch alloy wheels which get a new design. You get flush door handles which come out electrically. Even though the rear design looks familiar, it gets new LED tail lamps featuring tri-pointed star elements. The bumper design also receives minor tweaks with chrome elements that complete the overall appearance.
The 2024 E-Class can be had in five colour options: Obsidian Black, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, Polar White and Nautic Blue.
Coming to the interior, the biggest change and upgrade is that the dashboard now gets three large displays- a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the co-driver. The dash also features plenty of soft touch materials, as you would expect from a Mercedes. Moreover, it also gets ambient lighting at many places across the dashboard and door trims.

Other top features include dual wireless phone chargers (front and rear), four zones of climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 730W 17-speaker Burmester 4D sound system, powered front seats with memory function, and powered tailgate.
Safety kit includes a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and some ADAS features.
It will be available in two engine options – a 2-litre diesel and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. Both engines also get a mild-hybrid tech that gives a boost of 27 PS for 30 seconds. The engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. There is no option of a six-cylinder engine this time around unlike the previous-gen model.
The upcoming E-Class is likely to be priced around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). Mercedes said it intends to deliver a few cars before Diwali, which is on November 1. It will give a tougher fight to the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6.
