This update could help the Swift get a higher crash safety score from both Bharat and Global NCAP

UPDATE: Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2024 Swift in India At Rs 6.49 Lakh

One of the key aspects where the previous versions of the Maruti Swift was falling behind is safety. The outgoing third-gen model just got a single star when it was tested by Global NCAP back in 2022. However, Maruti will be improving the safety quotient of the new fourth-gen Swift, set for launch on May 9, by offering six airbags as standard across the variant lineup.

The addition of six airbags is definitely a welcome move by Maruti Suzuki. But we also hope structural changes have been made as that’s what really matters in crash safety tests. Another point to note is that the Japan-spec Swift performed admirably in the Japan NCAP crash safety test with a four star rating.

Other expected safety features onboard the new-gen Swift are electronic stability control, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors with camera and ABS with EBD. Sadly, leaked images have confirmed that the 2024 Swift won’t get ADAS features, which is offered in the international-spec model

The leaked pictures have also given us a clear look at the upcoming hatchback, which will get minor design changes for the Indian market. It’s also confirmed that the 2024 Swift will get the new three-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the outgoing four-cylinder unit. Bookings for the new Maruti Swift are open and as mentioned earlier, it will launch on May 9. Prices are expected to command a minor premium over the outgoing model, which started from Rs 6.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios as well as similarly priced models such as Tata Punch, Renault Triber and Nissan Magnite.
