Following an eventful 2023 in the Indian auto industry, marked by launches such as the facelifted Tata Harrier and Safari, 2024 is ready to continue the momentum with plenty of new launches and unveilings. Here's a complete list of new cars expected or confirmed to hit our shores in 2024.
Maruti Suzuki is all set to give a generational upgrade to the Swift, with the launch of 2024 Swift in India. The hatchback features a refreshed look inside out, along with introduction of a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Expected features include 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, up to six airbags and blind spot detection as seen in recent test mules of the 2024 Swift.

Expected Launch: First half of 2024
The Swift’s sedan version, the Dzire is also expected to receive the similar update as the new-gen Swift. You can expect Dzire-specific design differences at the rear, with powertrain and feature updates to be in line with those of the 2024 Swift.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is possibly due for a significant refresh next year as it has been in our markets for over four years. While details are limited, it is likely that Maruti will introduce subtle design updates on the exterior as well as in the interior. You can expect the S-Presso to retain its powertrain choices.

Maruti Suzuki is also set to introduce its first EV, the eVX, in 2024. It was initially slated for launch in 2025, but its test mules have been spotted multiple times indicating it might be ready for production. Maruti is expected to equip it with a 60 kWh battery pack, boasting a claimed range of 550 km.

In November 2023, we received an update on Toyota's sub-4m crossover SUV, based on the Maruti Fronx platform, expected to be named the Taisor. Similar to other collaborative products, the Taisor will undergo slight styling modifications compared to the Fronx, along with badge changes. However, there will be no revision to its features and powertrain.

The 2024 Creta facelift is one of Hyundai's significant launches expected next year. This midlife refresh is set to bring a fresh appearance both inside and out, accompanied by enhanced features such as a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). We also expect it to be equipped with the new 160 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine from the 2023 Kia Seltos.

Often considered as a 3-row Creta, the Hyundai Alcazar is also set to be refreshed in 2024. You can expect subtle cosmetic updates both on the exterior and in the interior, while maintaining a similar features set and could also get ADAS. The facelifted Alcazar is expected to retain its existing powertrain options.

Although the fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson made its debut in India only in 2022, its global-spec iteration received a midlife update in late 2023. The facelifted Tucson boasts subtle styling tweaks to the exterior and an upgraded interior, including a connected screen setup. We expect the 2024 Tucson to be offered with the current model's petrol and diesel engine options when it arrives on our shores.

In the first quarter of 2023, Hyundai unveiled the second-generation Kona Electric, which is notably larger and improved compared to the current India-spec model. Sticking with Hyundai's latest design philosophy, it comes equipped with a base-level 48.4 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP-rated range of 377 km.

In 2023, Hyundai introduced a new generation of its flagship 3-row SUV, the Santa Fe. The model boasts dual wireless phone charging pads, dual digital displays, and ADAS. Globally, it is available with a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a hybrid powertrain. However, it remains to be seen if Hyundai does plan to get it to India.

The 2023 Auto Expo witnessed the introduction of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover, which is locally assembled in India. Later in the year, Hyundai unveiled the performance-oriented N version of the Ioniq 5, equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack and a robust 600 PS electric powertrain.
While the introduction of a high-performance electric crossover SUV remains uncertain, there's also the possibility of the arrival of the Ioniq 6. Positioned as a sedan alternative to the Kia EV6 and showcased at Auto Expo 2023, it is expected to feature the same 72.6 kWh battery pack from the Ioniq 5, powering the rear wheels.

Tata has long had plans for an electric version of the Punch, and spy shots of the Tata Punch EV have been making rounds online for a considerable part of 2023. Set to hit the market in 2024, it will feature a new design with the facelifted Nexon EV-like styling cues. According to Tata, the Punch EV is claimed to provide a range of 325 km, with two battery pack options.

In 2021, Tata introduced the Punch as a micro SUV, creating a new segment below the Tata Nexon. Looking ahead to 2024, Tata might provide the Punch with a subtle update in terms of both exterior and interior elements, along with potential feature enhancements such as a larger touchscreen. That said, don’t expect any alterations to what it gets under the hood.

In 2024, Tata is set to introduce the Curvv EV, a new model positioned between the Nexon EV and Harrier EV. This electric SUV-coupe is expected to feature several similar features as Tata’s recently updated models, including a large touchscreen infotainment unit, touch-based climate control, and ADAS. The Curvv EV is expected to offer multiple battery pack options, aiming to provide a range of over 500 km.

The Tata Curvv is also scheduled to debut with internal combustion engine (ICE) options as well, although only after its EV derivative arrives. This entry into the compact SUV segment will position it as an SUV-coupe competitor against models like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. Expect the Cuvv ICE to boast a similar features set as the Curvv EV, including digital displays and ADAS.

The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift has already hit the roads, but the Dark edition is yet to be introduced which is expected to make its appearance in 2024. As in the past, the Nexon Dark edition is expected to feature black alloy wheels, grille, and 'Dark' badges, while retaining similar features and powertrain options as the variants it is based on.

Tata showcased a sportier-looking variant of the Altroz at Auto Expo 2023, named the Altroz Racer. It featured cosmetic updates both inside and out, incorporating new features introduced in the facelifted Nexon. While significant mechanical changes aren't out yet, it is expected to share the Nexon's 120 PS turbo-petrol engine with the standard Altroz.

The newly introduced Tata Harrier facelift will soon see the addition of an all-electric version known as the Harrier EV. While maintaining a consistent design theme and features set, it will offer multiple electric powertrain options, capable of providing a range exceeding 500 km. Additionally, Tata will offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option for the Harrier EV.

The much-anticipated 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar will finally go on sale in 2024. With a larger footprint compared to the 3-door model, it will also boast additional features including a larger infotainment unit and a sunroof. The 5-door Thar is expected to be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, with the availability of both 4-wheel-drive (4WD) and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configurations.

The Mahindra XUV300, one of the longstanding models in the carmaker's lineup, is due for a substantial update in the upcoming year. The sub-4m SUV is slated to receive revamped front and rear fascias, accompanied by a fresh cabin design. Mahindra could also introduce the updated XUV300 with ADAS along with both petrol and diesel engine options.

Mahindra's popular midsize SUV, the XUV700, will have an all-electric derivative named the XUV.e8 in 2024. This electric SUV might feature two battery pack options ranging from 60 kWh to 80 kWh, with the availability of a dual-motor all-wheel drivetrain (AWD). It’s expected to have a claimed range of around 450 km.

The updated Mahindra XUV400, undergoing testing, suggests a potential launch in 2024. Expected to feature design modifications akin to the facelifted XUV300 and a comparable features lineup, the XUV400 is expected to boast an increased claimed range while retaining the existing battery pack configuration.

The Sonet facelift is set to be one of Kia India's initial launches in 2024. Kia has given us a few sneak peeks at the updated SUV, highlighting the refreshed exterior and the introduction of a few additional features. While continuing with the current Sonet's powertrain options, the 2024 Sonet will reintroduce the 6-speed MT combo with the diesel unit.

The refreshed fourth-gen Kia Carnival has been unveiled on the global stage, and there are expectations that it might hit the Indian market in 2024. Aligned with the new Seltos in terms of styling, it showcases an upgraded dashboard design and a centre console. On the global front, it comes with three engine choices, featuring a 3.5-litre V6 and a 2.2-litre diesel.

Following their market introductions in 2021, the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia may undergo a model year update, likely more than just new colours and special editions. No alterations are expected under the hood for this SUV-sedan duo.

Skoda has no immediate plans for a return of the Octavia to India, but there's consideration for introducing the latest Octavia RS, the sedan's top variant based on the fourth-gen model. This move could mark the debut of Skoda's first plug-in hybrid car in India, featuring a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with an EV-only range of 60 km and a power of 245 PS.

The Skoda Enyaq iV, built on the Volkswagen Group's new MEB platform, might emerge as Skoda's first all-electric vehicle in India. Globally, it comes with diverse battery packs and motor setups, featuring a 77 kWh battery pack producing 305PS. In the Indian market, a similar battery pack is expected, albeit with a motor tuned for greater range, potentially reaching around 500 km.

Similar to their Skoda counterparts, the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus pair could undergo minor revisions as part of model year updates in 2024. These compact models may see subtle changes to their front-end design and some feature enhancements, potentially including ADAS. However, no significant mechanical changes are anticipated with this update.

The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX shares its mechanicals with the Skoda Enyaq iV, including the electric powertrain options. We expect it to get the same 77 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of over 500 km. Positioned as the sporty variant of the ID.4 crossover EV, the GTX could potentially compete with the Kia EV6.

Renault's recently unveiled third-generation Duster is expected to make its way to India in 2024. Skipping the second-generation model entirely, the upcoming Duster is set to become the French marque's flagship offering in the country. It is expected to feature the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, offering both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options.

Reports since 2021 have hinted at Renault introducing a more potent turbo-petrol engine option for the Triber MPV. It is speculated that this could materialise in 2024, bringing the sub-4m crossover MPV the same 100 PS engine found in the Kiger SUV. The updated powertrain is expected to offer both manual transmission (MT) and continuously variable transmission (CVT) options.

The facelifted fourth-gen Nissan X-Trail, revealed in 2023, is expected to make its way to India in 2024. It is likely to be imported through the completely built-up unit (CBU) route, and will become Nissan's flagship offering in India. It comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with or without a strong-hybrid powertrain. Globally, it is available in both 2WD and AWD options as well.

Nissan's only current offering in India, the Magnite, made its debut in December 2020. While the sub-4m SUV has seen only minor updates since its launch, a substantial refresh appears to be on the horizon in the coming year. Expected changes for the facelifted Magnite include design tweaks and the addition of a few extra features. However, it is unlikely to feature any alterations under the hood.

In 2023, spy shots surfaced online showcasing a new Citroen car tailored for the Indian market. This model, resembling a crossover sedan derived from the C3 hatchback, is slated to occupy a premium and stylish position above the C3 Aircross. It is expected to retain the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit as the compact SUV and will likely offer both manual and automatic transmission options.

The C3X crossover sedan is expected to have an electric version as well with distinct design modifications compared to the standard model.
