We have received a Block Your Date from Hero for 15th and 16th February 2024! And after digging up some records, we saw that the brand has also applied for the trademark of ‘Hurikan’ and ‘Hurikan 440’. So it seems like the Indian brand is gearing up to launch a new Hero bike, possibly a retro roadster of its own based on the Harley-Davidson X440’s platform.
Harley-Davidson launched the X440 last year at a very competitive price and the bike did turn out to be a really likeable one when we first rode it. So it does make sense for Hero to make its own retro roadster based on the same platform. And if Hero can implement some more price cuts and further bring down its price (which currently starts from Rs 2,39,500, ex-showroom), the bike could perfectly go up against the evergreen Royal Enfield Classic 350. The small capacity retro bikes space has been heating up in recent times with the X440 and the Triumph Speed 400 being launched at fantastic prices and it makes sense for Hero to want a piece of that pie.
How could it cut the bike’s price further? Maybe a telescopic fork instead of the inverted one on the X440? Maybe an LCD console instead of the TFT one? It’s all speculation but these are some ways Hero could further cut costs. And with these, if the brand manages to price it closer to the Rs 2 lakh mark, it wouldn’t be very far from the Classic 350, which currently starts from Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom) for the single-channel ABS variant.
