With electric mobility gaining popularity in India, various two-wheeler brands are now partnering up for further development of EVs. A few days ago, Ather received a huge investment from Hero MotoCorp and now Hero Electric has tagged along with Mahindra and Mahindra for further enhancement in production and other aspects of the E-mobility.
With the collaboration, Mahindra Group will help Hero Electric scale up its production volume of the Optima and NYX EVs. Both the models will now be manufactured at Mahindra’s Pitampur plant as well as Hero Electric’s Ludhiana plant. This will aid Hero to suffice its sales demand of 1 million EVs by 2022.
Furthermore, the two brands will also develop a new product together while sharing the know-how of EVs with each other. This will allow the electrification of Mahindra Group-owned Peugeot Motorcycles’ future products. Whether this new product will be for the B2B market or B2C is something we will have to wait and watch.
Overall, the Indian EV market has been booming with individual newcomers as well. For reference, Pune-based Tork Motors has announced the launch date for its first electric motorcycle, Kratos. Even Simple Energy is gearing up to commence the deliveries of the Simple One e-scooter.
