Report suggests it will be powered by a liquid-cooled heart

[UPDATE: Hero has launched the Karizma XMR in India. It looks muscular, attractive and packs a punch! Check it out here]

It’s coming back! Yes, the Karizma is making a comeback, and according to one news source, it could once again be the sportiest Hero on sale! Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming sporty Hero icon.

What happened to the old Karizma?

Back in 2003, when Bajaj was gaining momentum in the performance category with the Pulsars, Hero dominated the game with the Karizma, a 223cc, air-cooled motorcycle churning nearly 17PS and 19Nm. It remained unrivaled until the Pulsar 220 came along, and after a series of not so popular iterations under the Erik Buell Racing collaboration, the ‘Karizma’ moniker was laid to rest.

What’s different now?

According to the report, Hero has been working on a new 210cc, liquid-cooled platform which will power this new Karizma. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the expected power will be roughly 26PS and 30Nm. More information on its underpinnings, design and features are still under wraps but should become available as we start spotting test mules ahead of the launch.

With the prospect of Hero moving to a faster 210cc liquid-cooled platform, there’s a good chance that other 200cc air-cooled bikes within its current line up like the XPulse 200 4V too can benefit from this platform in the future. As for the Karizma, we’re glad the icon is making a comeback. I mean, this direction of reviving an icon is far better than soldering on the same old bike and updating it with fancy colours every other year. *cough* Pulsar 220F *cough*
