Hero MotoCorp is planning to introduce a lot of new two-wheelers in 2023, with the latest being the 2023 Xtreme 160R 4V. Along with planning to launch a Xoom 125 and a new Destini sometime this year, the manufacturer is also developing two new 125cc motorcycles for this year.
One of the two 125cc bikes will be a sporty commuter product to rival the TVS Raider 125. Though Hero has various 125cc commuter bikes in its line-up, none of them are proper rivals to the Raider 125. So, we expect Hero to develop a spirited version of the Glamour Xtec’s 125cc engine for the new bike and give it sporty and sharp design elements with Bluetooth connectivity features.
In Hero’s document, the other 125cc motorcycle’s intention is to capture the premium segment. Perhaps, this is to take on the likes of the KTM 125 Duke and maybe even the Yamaha MT-15 V2. This will be a completely different motor to the one used on its commuters, and might even bear liquid-cooling technology. As for the hardware, expect premium suspension components, and disc brakes at both ends.
Hero’s bikes should be priced competitively as the company plans to once again have a strong presence in the 125cc class. Hence, for perspective, the prices for the Raider start at Rs 1,00,820 ex-showroom, while the 125 Duke and the MT-15 V2 are currently priced at Rs 1,78,892 and Rs 1,64,00 ex-showroom, respectively.
