The Xtreme 125R will be Hero’s reply to our favourite 125cc bike, the TVS Raider

Just days after we talked about upcoming Hero 125cc bikes, a test mule of what could be the Hero Xtreme 125R has surfaced online, a bike that’s touted to be Hero’s answer to the TVS Raider

What makes us think this is the Xtreme 125R? The telescopic fork is a giveaway. Given that even the Xtreme 160R now gets an inverted fork, it means this must be a smaller capacity motorcycle. Talking about the suspension, the bike seems to be sporting a monoshock at the rear. The mule also sports a drum brake at the rear and given that the Xtreme 160R now gets disc brakes at both ends, it points  to the possibility of the bike being a smaller-capacity offering.

What’s instantly visible is the sharp and aggressive styling of the bike. Yes, the tank extensions look a bit too edgy and a tad weird, but the bike’s in its early stages of testing and the production bike could feature something more coherent. The headlight seems to be an LED unit and so do the indicators. Its console seems to be an LCD one and to rival the Raider well, we think Hero should give the bike Bluetooth connectivity.

As we mentioned earlier, this 125cc bike will be here sometime this year. Given how spot-on Hero usually is with its pricing, we think this bike could be priced below the Raider, the prices for which currently begin from Rs 93,719 (ex-showroom Delhi). Other rivals to this bike will be the Honda SP 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 125. Talking about upcoming Hero bikes, the bikemaker is readying not only a Xoom 125, but also multiple premium bikes in the 200-400cc segment.
