The 2022 Honda City Hybrid has started arriving at dealerships ahead of its launch in early May. Pre-launch bookings are underway and the hybrid sedan will be offered in a fully-loaded ZX trim. Furthermore, it will be the first mass market strong hybrid offering in the country from the Japanese brand.
Honda has made minor changes to the design of the e:HEV to differentiate it from the standard car. The logos get a blue hue, while the fog lamps are housed in redesigned housings. At the rear, the bumper features a faux diffuser with carbon fibre-like effect, and there is a subtle spoiler on the bootlid.
The self-charging hybrid sedan gets Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as auto high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, lane departure warning and collision avoidance braking system. It also comes with features like an 8-inch touchscreen, semi-digital driver display and a single-pane sunroof.
The City Hybrid pairs a 98PS 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 109PS electric motor, good enough for a combined output of 126PS. Drive is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT ‘box. To know the functioning of this powertrain and its exact specifications, read our detailed tech talk story where we get into its specifics.
Prices for the Honda City hybrid are expected to start around Rs 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same ballpark as the 1.5-litre TSI variants of the Skoda Slavia and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus. Our detailed review drops on May 02, so stay tuned.
