Honda has launched the updated Giorno scooter on its home turf, Japan. The 50cc scooter has received a minor tweak for 2022 and a bunch of new colour options to choose from. Here’s everything you should know about the Honda Giorno.
The updated Honda scooter certainly looks and flaunts the proportions of a normal-sized scooter. It features a round headlight and overall retro scooter design cues with its curvy body work. However, the ‘catch’ is on the inside.
The Honda Giorno is powered by a 50cc air-cooled 4-stroke motor with the output rated at 4.5PS and 4.1Nm. That’s not a lot but going by the build, though the Giorno tips the scales at just 81kg and its approachable 720mm seat height should make for a decent grocery-getter or daily commuter.
The remarkable bit, though, is Honda claiming that the Giorno can return a mileage of upto 80 kmpl. Additionally, its4.5-litre fuel tank means it can theoretically go on for close to 350km before needing to be refuelled.
Featurewise, the Honda Giorno packs an analogue dial with a small digital inset, halogen illumination and a 12V USB socket. The underpinnings are pretty simple too. You get a telescopic front fork, dual rear shocks and drum brakes at both ends.
Honda will keep the Giorno exclusive to the Japanese market as of now and has no plans to bring it to India. It retails at JPY 2,09,000 (approximately Rs 1.34 lakh). That’s even more expensive than the recently launched Yamaha Aerox 155. Of course, the economics work differently in Japan but we still feel it’s a little too expensive for what at the end of the day is a 50cc scooter.
