Honda Reaches 20 Lakh Production Milestone In India

Twenty lakh – that’s the quantum of units Honda has produced in the country thus far and the two millionth unit to roll out of the Japanese carmaker’s facility in Rajasthan was the City sedan.

Honda began its journey on Indian soil in December 1997 with the City sedan, which has now been on sale for 25 years in the country – one of the long-running mass market monikers in the country. 

The Japanese carmaker’s facility in Rajasthan has an annual production capacity of 1.8 lakh units. Not only is it used for the production of India-specific models, but it also manufactures cars for exports, particularly the Honda City and Amaze, to 16 different markets globally.

As of now, Honda has six models in its Indian portfolio, including three iterations of the City – the fourth-generation City, the fifth-generation City, and the City Hybrid. The remaining three models are the Jazz, Amaze, and WR-V.

The launch of the facelifted fifth-generation City could be on the cards soon as it was spotted in India for the first time and we could also get Honda’s first made-for-India SUV in 2023.

Honda Cars India reaches 2 Million Production milestone in India

Rolls out its 2,000,000th car made in India from its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan

New Delhi, 7th November 2022: Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, today announced that the company has reached the 2 Million-unit milestone in cumulative production of Honda cars in India. The company’s premium sedan Honda City formally rolled out of the assembly line at its state of the art manufacturing plant in Tapukara - Rajasthan, making it the 2 Millionth Honda car made in India. The milestone event was attended by senior leadership from Honda’s Regional Office including Mr. Hiroshi Tokutake, Executive Vice President, Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. and Mr. Katsuhiro Kaneda, Director, Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. along with the HCIL management team. 

HCIL began production operations in Dec 1997 with a focus on offering premium and world class products for its customers in India.  The 2 Million milestone also reiterates Honda’s commitment towards the “Make in India” vision of Govt. of India.
