We have known for a while that Honda has been working on a brand new motorcycle, likely to be based on the CB300F streetfighter. And going by on the teaser that the manufacturer dropped yesterday, it's safe to assume that the motorcycle will be launched soon.
In the teaser, we could spot the headlight of the motorcycle twice: once from the front and the other from the side. From the front, its styling looks similar to that of the CB300F. From the side, we could see small bits of ADV-style fairing around the headlight and what looks like a high-rise fender. The combination of both factors suggests that the upcoming bike might be an ADV-style bike based on the CB300F (and called the CB300X), just like how the CB200X was based on the Hornet 2.0. Another point that we noticed is that the motorcycle could get bright and snazzy colour options judging by the blue and yellow colours shown in the teaser.
Honda had previously attempted developing an ADV-style motorcycle based on a streetfighter. The CB200X, however, was underwhelming as it struggled with issues like inadequate ground clearance, a smaller (for an ADV) 17-inch front wheel, and an engine that lacked enough grunt for the highways. But the CB300F’s 293cc air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine’s performance figures (24.47PS and 25.6Nm) should give the upcoming CB300X adequate touring capabilities.
Touring bikes are all the rage these days with the KTM 250 Adventure and the Suzuki V-Strom SX generating high interest in the Indian market. As such, we were expecting manufacturers like Honda to jump on the bandwagon with a 300cc touring motorcycle of their own. When launched, the upcoming CB300X is expected to fetch quite a premium over the CB300F’s Rs 2,25,900 (ex-showroom) price tag.
