While the Hyundai Creta continued to dominate this segment, let’s take a look at the other models that made their place in the top 5 best selling compact SUVs of June 2024.

It's no surprise that the Hyundai Creta continues to dominate the compact SUV space in India. Since its launch in 2015, the Creta has remained popular among Indian car buyers due to its wide feature set, an upmarket cabin, and multiple powertrain choices. In June 2024, with over 16,000 units sold, the Creta topped the compact SUV sales chart, up from 14,662 units sold the previous month.
Price Range (Creta): Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20.15 lakh (ex-showroom)
Price Range (Creta N Line): Rs 16.82 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom)

The facelifted 2024 Hyundai Creta is offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 115 PS and 144 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT; a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 160 PS and 253 Nm, mated only to a 7-speed DCT; and a 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 116 PS and 250 Nm, available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Coming on to the Creta’s feature set, the top-spec variants come equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays for infotainment and the digital instrument cluster, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a Bose sound system. On the safety front it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS features including adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
The Maruti Grand Vitara was the second highest selling compact SUV in June 2024. . With 9,679 units sold , there was a slight dip from the previous month's 9,736 units. Compared to the sales in June 2023, the Grand Vitara had crossed 10,000 sales but saw an 8 percent decline when compared to June 2024 sales numbers. It's worth noting that, apart from the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Grand Vitara is the only SUV in the list offered with a strong-hybrid engine option.

Maruti offers the Grand Vitara with two engine options: a 103 PS 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid and a 116 PS 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain. The petrol variant is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, while the hybrid version comes with an e-CVT. A notable feature of the Grand Vitara is that the standard petrol engine can also be equipped with an optional all-wheel drivetrain.
The Grand Vitara comes equipped with features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, cruise control, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger. On the safety front, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and electronic stability control.
Like its sibling, the Kia Seltos also received a mid-life update which made its debut in July 2023 with updated design and new features. It maintains its third spot with 6,306 units sold in June 2024, marking a 76 percent year-on-year growth from 3,578 units sold in June 2023. Additionally, similar to the Creta, the Seltos is offered with three engine options: a naturally aspirated petrol, a turbo-petrol, and a diesel engine option.

Depending on the engine option you choose, the Seltos can be configured with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual), a CVT, a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
As far as features are concerned, the Kia Seltos comes equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, a powered driver’s seat, and a wireless phone charger.

Coming in fourth place is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, with 4,275 units sold in June 2024, which is an increase of 9 percent from May 2024's 3,906 units and 52 percent from the 2,821 units sold in June 2023. The Hyryder is a rebadged avatar of the Grand Vitara with similar engine options and feature set.

The hybrid variant is paired with an e-CVT, whereas the petrol engine is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Additionally, you can also opt for all-wheel drivetrain with 103 PS petrol unit.
Features on board the Hyryder include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a head-up display, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger and cruise control. On the safety front, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.
Finally making its way into the June 2024’s top 5 best selling compact SUVs list is the Honda Elevate, which not only surpasses the VW Taigun but also experiences a 39 percent increase in sales from the previous month. Among all the vehicles listed, the Elevate is the only SUV offered with a single petrol engine option.
