It looks like Hyundai is set to push segment boundaries with the new-generation Verna as the carmaker has revealed more details of the compact sedan’s cabin ahead of its launch on March 21. Pre-launch bookings for it are already open and here’s what the new release tells us:
The new-generation Verna will be laden with features, and Hyundai isn’t at all shy to boast about them. It brings front ventilated and heated seats, the latter which is a first to the segment, and it also gets an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system.
Apart from these, it also gets a 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment system and a Venue-like digital driver’s display, rear AC vents, ambient lighting and the touch controls on the dash can double up as climate control for automatic aircon function, similar to what we’ve seen in the Kia EV6.

A previous teaser has also confirmed the presence of ADAS, which should include functions such as lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and auto-emergency braking. The rest of the safety kit should include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child anchorages and more.
As for styling, the Verna is a mixture of different ideas and takes inspiration from more premium models abroad from the Korean marque such as the new Elantra. The parametric grille and the slim LED DRLs are a known Hyundai brand identity now. The front sports a split headlight setup, while at the rear the LED connected tail lamp spans the boot’s width.
The new-generation Verna will be the most powerful Verna we’ve got in India. There won’t be a diesel option, instead, 1.5-litre units with 115PS natural and 160PS turbo aspiration will be offered. We’ve done an in-depth story about the powertrains and the corresponding variants they’ll be offered with.

The new Verna is awaiting its launch on March 21 and Hyundai could price it from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It will renew its rivalry with the Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
