The Kona was priced from Rs 23.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
It was offered with a 39.2 kWh battery pack.
The Ioniq 5 is currently Hyundai’s other EV offered in India.
The Hyundai Kona Electric has been dropped from the official website, leading us to speculate that it has been discontinued. While we await official confirmation from Hyundai, a few of our dealer sources have also informed us that the model has been axed. The Kona was the first electric vehicle offered by Hyundai on our shores and was priced at Rs 23.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Kona EV was silently removed by Hyundai from its official website, leading to speculations that it has been discontinued in India. Hyundai recently confirmed that they will be launching the Creta EV by March 2025, and the production for the mass market EV will begin by the end of 2024.
While it remains to be seen if Hyundai brings the new-gen Kona that’s available overseas, the Creta EV could indirectly be its replacement, considering it’s expected to come at a similar price.
The features offered with the Kona, include a eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, front ventilated and heated seats, automatic headlights, 10-way powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, a heads-up display and cruise control.
In terms of safety, it gets 6 airbags, rear defogger, ISOFIX child mounts, electronic stability control, and ABS with EBD.
The Kona EV comes with a 39.2kWh battery teamed with a single motor producing 136PS and 395 Nm. It had a claimed range of 452km. It supports 50kW fast charging which could juice it up from zero to 80 percent in under 60 minutes, while using a 7.2kWh charger would take six hours and 10 mins.
With the possible exit of the Kona, the Ioniq 5 is currently thethe only electric vehicle offered by Hyundai in India. It is the Korean brand’s flagship vehicle in India and is priced from Rs 46.05 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals other premium EVs like the BYD Seal and the Kia EV6.
