It has been some time since the Tata Safari facelift broke cover digitally, giving us the first look at the updated SUV. But the carmaker has now showcased the 2023 Safari in the flesh, and here’s our first look at it in person. Bookings for the updated SUV have already been open for a while now, and it comes in four broad trims. If you intend to take a closer look at it in the flesh, then you’re at the right place as here we’ll be talking about the Safari using real-life images.
The real-life pictures draw more attention to the changes on the Safari facelift. The revised grille, bumper, and the connected LED DRL setup look substantial in the flesh, especially the latter with its welcome function.
Minimal revisions in profile come in the form of the 19-inch dual tone alloy wheels as well as ‘Safari’ badging on the front door. You also get new colour options, which have been detailed in this article.

The rear hops on the trend of the connected lighting setup with sleek connected LED strips. The tweaked bumper gets a skid plate contrasting the black lower bumper.
Tata has revised the cabin of the facelifted Safari with small but numerous tweaks. The central AC vents are now sleeker and get touch-sensitive controls below them. The steering wheel is new and gets the illuminated Tata brand logo and touch-sensitive controls. The screens are new as well and so is the gear shift lever that’s inspired from Land Rovers.
The cabin can be had in different themes and colour shades that depend on the Persona (variant) chosen.
A bunch of new features have been added to the Safari’s brochure, including a fully digital 10.25-inch driver's display, larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, knee airbag (totaling 7 airbags), powered tailgate with gesture-based opening, an updated JBL sound system and rear sunshades.
These have been added alongside the already existing creature comforts like ventilated front and second-row seats (available in the 6-seater configuration), connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, and keyless entry with push-button start. Its safety kit includes up to 7 airbags, TPMS, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package.
The ADAS kit now gets adaptive cruise control, which wasn’t present in the outgoing model.
Despite the rumours and reports of a petrol engine, the Safari continues with a sole 170PS 2-litre diesel engine, retained from the outgoing model. It can be had with either a 6-speed MT or 6-speed AT. The fuel efficiency figures stand at 16.3kmpl for the manual and 14.5kmpl for the automatic. It still continues to be a front-wheel driven SUV.

The launch for the facelifted Tata Safari should be on the horizon, considering that the car has now been revealed in the flesh and that bookings have been open for some time now. It could get dearer over its current prices that range between Rs 15.84 lakh to Rs 25.21 lakh ( ex-showroom). It’ll rival the MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV700 in the market.
