Hungarian auto manufacturer Keeway, which is Benelli’s sister company, has finally set foot in India with three distinctive products, including the K-Light 250V V-twin cruiser, that stand out in their respective segments. The bikemaker has also disclosed that it will be launching around eight products here in the future.
Keeway has started off its journey in India with the K-Light 250V cruiser that gets muscular styling with a chunky fuel tank. It looks big and beefy, and powering it is a potent 249cc, air-cooled, V-twin engine. This is the only quarter-litre V-twin engine currently on a bike in India, making it stand out from its rivals and pretty much every other bike in the market at the moment. As for output figures, the motor produces 18.7PS and 19Nm. The bike has an upside down fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking hardware consists of discs at both ends with dual channel ABS as standard.
Adding to its Indian portfolio, Keeway has also unveiled a retro-style scooter which comes with proper vintage design, making it look classy and attractive. The scooter slightly resembles the upcoming Peugeot Django retro-scooter. It also features a retro-style split seat setup.
Despite the quirky design, what stands out the most about the Sixties 300i is the 278.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 18.7PS and 22Nm. This doesn’t just make it the highest capacity retro-themed scooter in the country, but also the most powerful one. It gets a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. As for brakes, it gets discs at both ends with dual channel ABS. The scooter tips the scales at 136kg kerb weight and rolls on 12 inch wheels.
Last but not the least, Keeway has also catered to the growing maxi-scooter segment in the country by unveiling the Vieste 300. It gets a proper maxi-scooter design with aggressive styling complemented by sharp and edgy body panels. It features a twin fascia-mounted LED headlights setup along with a long windshield. To complement the stylish design, it gets sleek looking black alloy wheels Powering this maxi-scooter is the same engine as the Sixties 300i, producing the same power and torque figures. Even the suspension and braking hardware are the same as the retro-style scooter. The Vieste 300 tips the scales at 147kg and rolls on larger, 13-inch wheels.
All three products from the Hungarian bikemaker are unique and carry distinct characteristics that set them apart from pretty much anything else we’ve got in the Indian market at this time. The scooters and the cruiser will be launched in the fourth week of May 2022 and the bookings have already commenced. Moreover, deliveries start in June 2022 with dealerships being set up in 45 cities. Expect Keeway to price the K-Light 250V at Rs 2.6 lakh, and the scooters in the range of 2.3 - 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
