The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show is the perfect platform for companies to showcase their arsenal. And putting the 2021 GIIAS to full use was Hungary-based company Keeway, which took the wraps off its SCR 250V scrambler motorcycle.
The letters in its name give away a few key bits about the bike. ‘SCR’ means scrambler, which is in line with the bike’s rugged design. You get an indented 13-litre fuel tank, aluminium number plates on the sides, a tall rear fender, a bash plate, and more importantly, a 17/15-inch (F/R) spoke wheel setup, making it ever-so-purposeful.
Moving on, the ‘V’ in the SCR 250V’s name refers to its engine-type -- an air-cooled 249cc V-twin which comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. The power on tap, at 17PS and 17Nm, is a little disappointing, though, as it is even less than the much smaller, single-cylinder TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
Like the engine, the Keeway SCR 250V doesn’t score high on features either. It gets bulb illumination all around, a basic single-pod semi-digital instrument cluster, bar-end mirrors, and dual-channel ABS. But at 154kg, and with a seat height of just 720mm, the Keeway SCR 250V is surprisingly accessible for an off-road motorcycle.
And finally, let’s discuss money, shall we? Keeway has priced the SCR 250V at the equivalent of around Rs 3 lakh (excluding taxes) in Indonesia. Besides, given the features and power figures, we don’t think it would make any sense in our market.
Nevertheless, if you're looking for an affordable motorcycle to tackle rough terrain, you won’t go wrong with the Hero XPulse 200 4V.
